On August 5, 2015 the Schneider Electric company announced completion of construction new server for Rainbow Smile retail network. Design, equipment installation and commissioning was performed by Trinity company.

Project Tasks

The need for construction of DPC arose at the customer in connection with opening of new shops and expansion of warehouse: the company has more than 330 shops in Northwest and Central Federal District. The operating IT infrastructure coped with loading, but possibilities of its development tended to zero. Due to the business growth, opening of new shops and expansion of warehouse there was a need of moving and construction of new server.

Project Progress

For the solution of this task it was required to set 4 10 kW racks (with a possibility of expansion server to 10 racks), to provide fault tolerance on power supply and cooling of not less N+1, with a control system of humidity and with a battery life not less than 40 minutes, to provide automatic input of a reserve and a possibility of installation of the diesel power plant with a power of 0.5 MW on all warehouse complex.

"We selected Trinity because we could receive all turnkey range of services in one place and at the worthy level, - Evgeny Bogorad, the project manager from Smile of Rainbow told. - Now all engineering systems operate normally, and business processes of network are supported up to standard that provides sure and continuous business. IT infrastructure constantly adapts under quickly changing needs and is scaled, and, thus the company is protected from emergencies which can lead to failure of operation of servers. The payback period of an object will be 2 years if to compare to lease of data center".

For preparation of the premises, it was required to bring all necessary communications and to set gas-tight metal doors. For completion of construction in a short time, development and approval of projects of the engineering systems were conducted in parallel. The total area of server 42 m ², power consumption - 66 kW, with a possibility of increase in power server by 2.5 times, up to 160 kW. Regular power supply is provided by 2 Galaxy 5500, 4 UPSes battery a cabinet and a distribution frame on the equipment Schneider Electric.

Project Results

In server Uniflair raised floor with the permitted load of 3000 kg of m ² is set, under a floor it is mounted an electrical wiring and SCS. The base and frames for external blocks of conditioners of the cooling system is in parallel mounted, the system of automatic gas fire fighting of Novec 1230 is installed. Three falshpolny Uniflair Leonardo conditioners and the system of containerization of APC EcoAisle air maintain temperature at the level 18-22˚C and control humidity.

Igor Schwartz, the head of department of system integration from Trinity, the project manager, reported: "We used a modular framework of InfraStruxure that at increase in need for computing power the customer could execute quickly upgrade of the engineering systems server, - he told. - Thanks to system implementation of containerization of a cold corridor of APC EcoAisle the power of cooling can reach 12-15 kW on a rack. This technical solution increases the efficiency of Uniflair Leonardo conditioners by 2-2.5 times. At standard approach to the organization of falshpolny cooling this value will not exceed 5-6 kW on a rack. The highly skilled command which implemented tens of projects was involved. From the moment of discussion of terms of reference before completion of installation there passed three months - for such short time we managed to construct small DPC with very good scaling options and also to train the customer's specialists".
