ELAR Corporation completed in the summer of 2015 the digitization of more than 7 thousand museum objects of the Moscow State Joint Art Historical, Architectural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve "Kolomenskoye" (MGOMZ). Collections translated into digital form: "Archeology," "Old Russian Painting," "Decorative and Applied Art" and "Photo-Phono-Video Foundation."
The digitization of museum objects with the help of photo points specially equipped on the territory of the museum is carried out with museum objects of any size, complexity and location. During the project, professional scanning equipment was used for the careful digitization of dilapidated museum objects: the planetary scanner ELAR PlanSkan C and the high-quality scanning complex ELAR PāSkan, which provide contactless scanning using cold light. Each image is assigned an inventory number of the exhibit, and when shooting, a color scale is placed on the frame that reproduces all the features of color reproduction. The processed files are provided in formats compatible with the museum-reserve information system. Olga Anatolyevna Polyakova, Deputy Director for the Storage of MGOMZ Funds, notes: "The main goal of digitization, in our case, is to improve the system of recording exhibits. Electronic images of museum objects are attached to the relevant records in the Integrated Automated Museum Information System, which allows you to get more complete information about the objects of the MGOMZ collection. "
When digitizing large exhibits, a specialized ORTHERY synchronous rotation platform was used, on which objects weighing up to 300 kg can be placed and 3D shooting can be carried out for subsequent combining of images into three-dimensional animation videos. At the moment, two unique interior items have been shot - table hours of work by German masters of the 19th century and an old secretary of the late 18th century, decorated with ivory plates with images of Russian kings.
"As a result of the works, high-quality symbols of museum objects were obtained, which are entered into the information system for recording exhibits and a more complete idea of MGOMZ funds. The quality and volume of information entered are the main characteristics of any database. You can fully work with the DB only if its filling is close to 100%, "says Lyudmila Vladimirovna Morozkina, head of the museum department of ELAR Corporation.
As a result, archaeological finds from the territory of the museum-reserve belonging to various historical eras have been digitized; masterpieces of Russian icon painting of the 16th-20th centuries, photographic materials on the architecture and history of the village of Kolomenskoye. Electronic images of museum objects will replenish the MGOMZ information system, which ensures the accounting and preservation of funds.
