One of projects of updating of permanent exposure – interactive installation "book shelf", an essence the large-format monitor which is built in in a decorative box. The system of "book shelf" consists of the camera distinguishing the three-dimensional movements of a body, a mimicry and the contactless touch Microsoft Kinect controller helping the user to interact with what occurs on the screen by means of movements, gestures, etc.

For project implementation it was required to create the application using which visitors will manage content using possibilities of Kinect. The partner selected Softline company.

Project Progress

Specialists of the contractor developed the control panel content providing preparation of books on the basis of the PDF files, the main application for which created the interface, a set of gestures, read modes, switchings of language. Setup of recognition of gestures of users when choosing the book, its viewing and closing taking into account features of the movement of different categories of users (adults, children, elderly people) is carried also out.

Project Results

As a result of project implementation interactive "book shelf" is created. Visitors gestures can "take" the pleasant book, "look through" it, select language of the text and other parameters. Process of work with the application is followed by the hints appearing on the screen as required.

"Our specialists developed for the customer the adapted solution on the basis of the contactless touch Microsoft Kinect controller integrated with educational resources. Now the e-book is displayed on the touch screen, and it is possible to manage it by means of gestures. Thus, work with the text becomes not only more productive, but also more interesting to the user", - Alexander Volovik, the manager on sale of solutions of Softline company said.
