Specialists of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of TopLog company completed in the summer of 2015 automation of a warehouse complex of VKT LLC - one of the largest distributors of food of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Volga district. Using the TopLog WMS system implemented on the 1C:Enterprise 8 platform it was succeeded to accelerate twice accomplishment of warehouse transactions - acceptance, movements, goods complete sets, etc. The number of returns is reduced by 50%. Loading of transport is optimized and the operational goods delivery is provided to buyers. Today the distribution center works in the intensive mode, processing more than 6,500 orders and shipping over 600 tons of goods daily that exceeds former indicators for 20%.

TD "VKT" was founded in 1992 and today represents the large distribution and logistic company servicing more than 9,000 clients. In 2013 the new modern multitemperature distribution center of 26 thousand square meters which is specially designed for work with food is started and has 8 zones with the separate climatic modes (from-25 to +18 C).

Earlier in VKT LLC the information system which ceased to cope with tasks of the enterprise was used. Processes of shipment of goods and drawing up delivery notes were tightened. At set inevitably there were errors. The imperfection of an information system did not allow to monitor in real time movement of goods on a warehouse. For the purpose of performance improvement and effective management of warehouse transactions the decision on system implementation of management of a warehouse which would help to organize operational inventory control, to improve quality of planning of shipments, to strengthen control over the implementation of orders was made.

TopLog which specialists already had positive experience of automation of the large warehouse complexes working in the field of distribution of food became the partner in implementation. For the solution of assigned tasks the TopLog WMS system on a technology platform of 1C:Enterprise 8 was selected.

System implementation was executed consistently, without stopping works of a warehouse complex. Specialists TopLog together with IT department of VKT company made integration of TopLog WMS with a corporate information system.

Key results of the project:

In a warehouse the technology of automatic replenishment of zones of set of goods or, in other words, feed is implemented. The essence of transaction consists in timely and fast movement of goods from a zone of the main storage in a selection zone. The round-the-clock mode of order processing demanded several options of implementation of this process:

  • morning feed - is executed right after the end of night shipment and fills cells of active storage up to the complete volume taking into account FIFO (the goods which arrived the first on a warehouse will be shipped first of all);
  • feed taking into account requirements of a residual expiration date - ensures functioning with VIP clients and is executed in specially selected zone of active storage. It excludes a resort on batches in the course of set and guarantees delivery to clients of the freshest products. At the expiration of an admissible expiration date the task for moving of goods to cells for clients with standard requirements for an expiration date forms;
  • feed before shipment - is executed after the end of booking by sales department. Allows to consider surges in demand (actions, sales) which were unknown at the time of morning feed;
  • night feed - during the period from 8 p.m. to 6 in the morning works the high-rise loader on duty for replenishment of cells of active storage in case of non-staff situations at a warehouse, for example, at damage of goods in the course of set.

The high-rise loaders participating in this process are distributed on work areas. The task for the driver forms taking into account an optimal route of the movement on a warehouse.

For convenience and visualization in a warehouse two monitors on which in the mode of a slideshow reports, such as "Development of typesetters on zones", "A set status in the directions", "The completed runs", "Quantity of not gathered goods" are started were located. Each employee online can watch a work progress on all zones of a warehouse and also control own performance.

The technology of their consolidation in one task was developed for increase in speed of assembly small on order amount. For one pass on a warehouse the employee collects at the same time up to 4 orders. It allowed to lower considerably a single run of typesetters and to increase the processing speed of orders.

All this helped the company to achieve the following results:

  • time for accomplishment of all technology transactions in a warehouse is reduced: on goods acceptance - for 30%, on placement and enrollment - twice, on replenishment of a zone of set - twice;
  • warehouse employees productivity is increased. If earlier the best result on set could be considered 800-900 positions of the nomenclature for change, then now this indicator increased till 1300;
  • the number of returns is reduced by 50%;
  • labor costs are twice reduced by scheduling and control of personnel;
  • at the expense of a competent complete set of a delivery route expenses on transport on 30% are cut down;
  • idle times and delay of transport because of delays in selection, as a result idle times in case of delay to a shipment window, a repeated delivery, penalties for delivery failure to meet time constraints - are eliminated almost up to 100% of cases.
