Configuration management database structure in Asia-Pacific of Bank

Asian-Pacific Bank (APB) and Jet Infosystems company implemented process of management of configurations based on software of HP of Service Manager. The solution is applied at head office of bank in Blagoveshchensk in which project works, and in all branches of network were carried out. Information on IT infrastructure is systematized within one system that simplifies accounting of the equipment. In particular, the procedure of inventory which IT service ATB carries out annually together with accounting. Now employees of the bank can quickly estimate a condition of IT infrastructure of all branch network up to separate user devices and plan the budget.

"Earlier we had difficulties in data acquisition on the specific equipment installed at a certain office on a lineup and the number of the equipment of this or that model. Due to the lack of a centralized system of accounting information had to be collected from different sources that took a lot of time — the project manager, the director of the department of banking technologies of Asian-Pacific Bank Belyakov Alexey told. — In a project deliverable the task of optimization of collection of information about components of IT infrastructure was successfully solved. Also the foundation for further increase in controllability of infrastructure of bank and implementation of process and service IT model which allows to increase management efficiency of IT was laid. On the next stage implementation of an incident management process and integration with a monitoring system are planned. It will allow to create in the automatic mode incidents at failures of the equipment that will increase the speed of their elimination and will provide business continuity".

At the beginning of the project comprehensive examination of IT infrastructure and IT processes of bank was conducted. On the basis of collected information specialists of Jet Infosystems developed and regulated the process of management of configurations defining an order of management of IT infrastructure components. Also the uniform database structure of configuration management (Configuration Management Database, CMDB), information which is the main source was developed for HP Service Manager (HPSM). During expansion of basic structure of CMDB the structure of the main and additional attributes was determined by each category of the equipment. According to the results of approval of structure of CMDB the HPSM tuning which allowed to implement a reference model of CMDB was performed. With its help sorting of the collected information is implemented. As a result each employee sees only those data which are necessary for him for work, explained in the company.

Specialists of system integrator carried out setup of the module of the configuration management which is a part of HPSM. In addition, in an IT landscape of the company the system of a diskavering of HP Universal Discovery necessary for bank for automation of collection of information about servers was implemented. Experts of Jet Infosystems executed solution integration with HPSM (all information from the database of a system of a diskavering is transferred to reference base HPSM).

In addition to HP Universal Discovery, for collection of information about workstations the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager system which was also connected to HPSM during the project is used.

For automation of the reporting under process of management of configurations the SAP solution Crystal Reports which was implemented was used, experts of the system integrator configured and integrated with HPSM. SAP Crystal Reports allows to create reports of all levels of execution of process: from the engineer controlling a status of configurations on the separate server to the director of the IT controlling a status of all IT infrastructure.

All information on components of IT infrastructure is consolidated in the single database HPSM. To avoid possible problems at operation, experts of Jet Infosystems provided complex training in work both with process, and with means of its automation. According to the results of training the control testing which showed high extent of understanding and the involvement of employees of the bank into process was held.
