PI Connector

The OSIsoft company announced in the fall of 2015 official release of new connectors:

• - PI Connector for HART-IP (v. 1.0.0.51)
• - PI Connector for Wonderware Historian (v. 1.0.0.128)
• - PI Connector for IEC 60870-5-104 (v. 1.0.0.21)

PI Connector is the technology of OSIsoft company similar in the functions to PI Interface which is intended for data collection from sensors and management systems. PI Connectors require the minimum setup and also allow to simplify process of data collection, carrying out intuitive scanning using a certain protocol as a result of which tags are automatically configured and the object model in PI Asset Framework (AF) forms.

PI Connector for HART-IP collects data from the sensors supporting data exchange under the HART 7 protocol, connected to the wireless gateway or the multiplexer working under the HART-IP protocol. PI Connector for HART-IP works in IP networks and has access only to reading HART of compatible devices.

PI Connector for Wonderware Historian collects retrospective data from the server of contemporary records Wonderware Historian.

The connector supports data reading mechanisms using SDK 2012 R2 for Wonderware Historian and ODBC for collection of information about "galaxy", the area, an object and attributes from the server of contemporary records.

PI Connector for Wonderware Historian automatically creates structure of elements of an object model in PI AF similar to hierarchical representation of the Wonderware Historian model in Wonderware ArchestrA, and appropriates to AF elements necessary values of attributes, using the required Data Reference type.

PI Connector for IEC 60870-5-104 collects and transfers data on measurements, quality and a context from the data sources supporting the IEC 60870-5-104 protocol to PI Server under the TCP/IP protocol. The connector automatically creates a data structure in the form of AF elements in PI Asset Framework and creates tags for data storage of time series in PI Data Archive.

Known restrictions

Windows Server 2003 is not supported. Since July 14, 2015 the Microsoft company finishes support of Windows Server 2003. After this date the Microsoft company will not provide the new updates for a security system which are not connected with safety of correction, service of a free or paid support with maintenance or updates of the technical information on the Internet on any of versions of Windows Server 2003 any more.

• - The Microsoft company provided migration planning resources for users of Windows Server 2003: http://www.microsoft.com/ru-ru/server-cloud/products/windows-server-2003/
• - Users of Windows XP should consider that the Microsoft company stopped support of Windows XP on April 8, 2014.

Besides, PI AF SDK 2014 R2 (2.6.1) which is required for work with connectors does not support Windows Server 2003 any more.
