The corporate data warehouse of VTB 24 repeatedly paid off

On September 25, 2015 VTB 24 announced end of the three-year project of creation of the data warehouse on hundreds terabyte. Integrator in the GlowByte Consulting project. A technology platform - Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse^[1].

Project Tasks

The project of creation of the corporate data warehouse (CDW) in bank arose in 2011. Its purposes:

• creation of uniform analytical infrastructure,
• consolidation of data and reporting,
• development of retail bank regarding support of problems of target marketing,
• creation of decision making system,
• support of processes of other front office systems,
• reduction in cost of ownership of the analytical systems.

The project is begun in 2012. The GlowByte Consulting company selected by the customer a competitive basis acted as the system integrator.

Implementation project result

Amount of data in KHD for September 25, 2015 more than 130 TB. The architecture, according to partners, allows scaling on hundreds terabyte. Monthly more than 10 thousand employees of the bank use the reporting created in storage. From them about 700 work with storage directly, the average number of active users a day more than 300 people. On the basis of this statistics the integrator speaks of the project, as of one of the largest not only in Russia, but also in the financial sector of Europe.

In creation of storage Teradata technologies, in particular Enterprise DWH Platform are used.

Sergey Rusanov, the board member and the director of the department of banking and information technologies of VTB 24, noted: "First of all, KHD provides bank with information and models for optimization of activity in the current market situation".

"The upgraded system of the corporate management reporting working at uniform data source allowed to optimize maintenance expenses of analytical infrastructure of bank, to improve quality of the reporting and to create unified information environment of decision making" — GlowByte Consulting reported.

Financial performance of the project is not published.

Representatives of GlowByte Consulting said that thanks to uniform storage smooth integration of information systems of bank with absorbed by it in November, 2013 Transcreditbanky became possible.

"At the moment we achieved all key goals — Sergey Rusanov said. — KHD is in a stage of development and ensuring support of changes in processes of bank".

Economic result of the project

On May 10, 2017 economic results of implementation and operation of the corporate data warehouse of VTB 24 became known.

The analysis of a customer behavior of VTB 24 bank using the corporate data warehouse (CDW) allowed organization to increase at the end of 2016 a net percentage margin of credit operations by 16% and to earn 19 billion rubles of a net interest income, the press service reported^[2].

According to statements of VTB 24, the total costs of "iron", software, integration and service of KHD made ~ $33 million and these means paid off is tenfold.

In a public access there are data that for KHD in 2015 the bank paid 800 million rubles for completion of software. The contract with completion date till December 31, 2017 is signed by VTB 24 with GlowByte Consulting as the unique supplier.

With this integrator bank it is uncontested signed the agreement on 200 million rubles on completion of KHD and rendering consulting services concerning its development, in April, 2017. Contracts for maintenance and technical support of KHD from GlowByte Consulting:

• 2015 — on 22.4 million rubles,
• 2016 — on 31.3 million rubles.

For September 25, 2015 amount of data in KHD was more than 130 TB. More than 10 thousand employees of the bank monthly used the reporting created on the platform of storage.

Daily through the data warehouse there pass more than 40 thousand requests. For May 10, 2017 KHD contains about 60% of information on borrowers which is available in IT systems of VTB 24.

By the time of project completion in bank focused attention on technologies of Teradata company, in particular Enterprise DWH Platform.
