Interview with the deputy CEO "ABBYY Russia" Dmitry Shushkin
About a situation in the EDMS/ECM market, advanced technologies in the field of stream input and data processing Dmitry Shushkin, the deputy CEO of ABBYY Russia gave an interview of TAdviser.
TAdviser: What trends in the field of an EDMS/ECM can you note? Whether there were some changes in comparison with the 2014th and pre-crisis years?
Dmitry Shushkin: In general in the market of EDMS a quiet situation – the market is saturated, there is no explosive growth. The tendency to repeated implementations, in particular - in the companies where there is a scrappy automation or in case of change of vendor is observed. Historically it developed so that Russian EDMS in the majority, unlike the western ECM, developed from automation of turnover of the organizational and administrative documents (OAD) of the company, i.e. office-work. The last years growth of interest in integration traditional by EDMS with BPM solutions, the systems of intellectual search, a business intelligence is observed. Integration into the modules BI is especially perspective, EDMS contains huge information volume, and mostly – unstructured. Therefore systems with business intelligence modules, capable to work with unstructured content, come to the forefront today. One more obvious trend – mobile access. In the world of personal mobile devices it is more, than computers therefore this trend will only amplify. To all appearances in the short term the tablet, the smartphone or a combination of one with another will be the main instrument of access to corporate content. The relevant software solutions helping to implement it in practice are already presented at the market.
TAdviser: What requirements of large business?
Dmitry Shushkin: The large companies thought of the strategy of information management in general, corporate content management. Amounts of data continue to grow, in large, geographically distributed corporations content reaches the size of Big Data. Respectively, storage expenses, reservation grow, and they become financial and notable. It is necessary to analyze these Big corporate Data, trying to derive benefit for business. At the same time corporations consider different tools and approaches to content management strategy implementation – either single platforms, or solutions of the specialized companies, but the tendency to development of uniform corporate strategy is available.
TAdviser: What, in your opinion, further perspectives of the Russian EDMS/ECM market?
Dmitry Shushkin: First, the EDMS/ECM market will grow – both in corporate, and in retail segments. Secondly, growth will be due to implementation of new tools, the offer of new services, but not at the expense of an intensive scope of new niches. In a segment of an average, small and furthermore microbusiness, or there is no financially supported demand, or it is already set workflow systems from 1C, SKB Kontur and others. And similar, niche solutions close all basic needs of the small companies. But it is possible to offer new services – in addition to the main. For example, one our partner made the system of voice actuation by means of mobile devices in addition to the system of financial document flow. And one more trend – leaving in the Internet, document storage outside perimeter of the corporate IC of the enterprise, in a cloud, with the accessibility from any point.
TAdviser: According to the research IDC, ABBYY the leader in the market of stream input of data in Russia. What the market is? How do you estimate its current status? What changes happened for the last year? What is interesting today to customers?
Dmitry Shushkin: The market of stream input of data is integrated to the whole set of the markets – the market of information management, ERP, various banking and many other systems. Any information system works with data which should get to it in one way or another. And if these data not of telemetric origin, it is necessary either to enter them manually, or to automate input. In the conditions of a computerization of business, gain of interaction of the companies on different information channels, both amounts of data, and requirement of their input grow. Therefore, I think that the market will grow. Today market leaders of stream input are financial structures, further there are government institutions and the oil and gas companies. In the technology roadmap today we observe growth of interest in cloud solutions. The same tendency to mobile data entry is observed. For example, by means of photography of the finance document, extraction on the device of digital data with their optional check and the subsequent sending on a business process chain. In addition to data entry solutions in the field of recognition of texts for archives, search of necessary data, processings of citizens' appeals and comparison of agreements in EDMS are demanded.
TAdviser: On what directions do banks use the systems of stream input of data?
Dmitry Shushkin: In a credit granting system for scanning of the credit requests attached to the request of documents. From recent trends – integration of the systems of stream input with the systems of the business analysis allowing to analyze, for example, the entered data on the person or the organizations which submitted the loan application regarding existence of financial encumbrances.
TAdviser: For what the business analysis is still used on the stream input? On what functions demand is observed?
Dmitry Shushkin: There is a lot of scenarios of use of the business analysis at data entry. So, there is a possibility of intellectual attribution at data entry of text documents - for example, agreements with partners. Demand for similar solutions – and in the West (the company does business more than in 200 countries), and in Russia.
TAdviser: How an EDMS/ECM do affect business performance?
Dmitry Shushkin: The efficiency increases because EDMS allows to lower labor costs on document handling, to increase quality of data, to make more convenient storage and information search. The input speed and data processings are higher, the more convenient to work with information to personnel, the business performance is higher.
TAdviser: What industries are the most advanced in development of EDMS?
Dmitry Shushkin: In leaders – banks as I already also spoke above. The competition in the financial sphere high. The modern client, when comes to bank and sees queue, is developed and leaves. Therefore to the forefront there is a service rate of clients and in particular - document handlings which are shown to bank by the client. The number of the operators working in the front office is economically inexpedient increase. Banks solve this problem by different methods - implement technologies of quick entry and information processing on places, develop remote banking. In addition to banks, the "dokumentoyemky" industries are the industry and retail.
TAdviser: What situation in these segments?
Dmitry Shushkin: Because of a rapidly changing economic situation, need to be reoriented on other suppliers in retail trade today only some players feel normally. There is too much problems, most of players are busy with their permission and in respect of workflow automation, implementations of stream input of documents calm is observed. In respect of automation the industry is on rise and also government institutions and the commercial organizations. Production efficiency and the accompanying processes – very live subject. In the next years the industry can come out in leaders in terms of automation of "dokumentoyemky" processes.
TAdviser: What it is possible to tell about the state managerial segment?
Dmitry Shushkin: The state takes noticeable steps in this direction. It is separately possible to note progress of the Federal Tax Service. FTS implemented a possibility of interaction with legal entities on electronic channels. And, respectively, accelerated process of obtaining information, having at the same time reduced the volume of paper document flow. Such mutually advantageous model of interaction of the state and the companies gets a ready response at business. The Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications does much in respect of the organization of interdepartmental document flow. In respect of interaction of the state with citizens we see development too. It is enough to look at the different initiatives of the Moscow government implemented in the form of the different software products which are laid out in Apple Store and Google Play, specialized portals on providing electronic services. Our company implemented the project in the State Duma of the Russian Federation on processing of citizens' appeals. Thanks to the solution based on our technology of understanding and the analysis of texts of AbbyyCompreno all requests of citizens (and their about 3000 - 4000 in a month) are automatically analyzed and classified by 22 subjects among which there are questions of health care, education, justice, business activities, the dwelling and others. Then they besides automatically go to one of special-purpose committees or to the deputy for the subsequent consideration. It allows to increase significantly the speed of redirection of the appeal to the responsible ministries and departments, to lower a response time on citizens' appeals. This project – on intellectual processing of addresses - not single, is observed interest from the party and state structures, and business here.
However in general on departments, despite visible progress, correctness to paper document flow is observed. With alternation of generations, implementation in our life of mobile devices, different forms of electronic interaction, the situation will change. Managers who consider instruments of electronic interaction not only correct, but also unique will come. Especially taking into account the policy to attract pursued the last years in state agencies of the young personnel. So, we will hope, the market of EDMS in the state segment will develop.
TAdviser: In conclusion – once again about mobile solutions in business, as mobility still one of the hottest topics. Mobile solutions in the field of document flow are already demanded in practice?
Dmitry Shushkin: In respect of electronic document management mobile solutions are already demanded. In labor market the tendency to remote work of employees, including work at home is noticeable. There are industries where the whole professional categories work mobile. With respect thereto everything that is connected with creation of content, access to it, management by means of mobile solutions is very demanded by it in practice. If to speak about the systems of stream input as component of mobile solutions, it is possible to note that the number of projects for the last period significantly increased so interest grew. For example, within mobile banking financial institutions implement the service allowing to photograph the invoice for payment, say, for benefit of this or that supplier and to avoid manual entry of payment data in a banking system today. Insurance market too actively interacts with clients by means of mobile applications. Telecommunication operators already do a lot of things in this direction. As for retail that in this industry huge interest in the programs of loyalty assuming the most direct contact with buyers is observed. It can become a strong factor on promotion of mobile customer interaction in retail trade.
