That used "Convenient money" for backup

On October 19, 2015 the Trinity company announced implementation in IT structure of microfinancial service "Convenient Money" of the upgraded backup system and data recovery.

The Convenient Money company came up against a situation when the speed of system operation of backup ceased to correspond to regulations owing to the increased amount of data. It was required to increase the speed of backup of databases. The project and implementation of the initial solution in 2014 were executed by specialists of Trinity therefore Convenient Money company addressed to this company in search of the solution of a task.

Project Progress

On a test polygon of Trinity company deployed the stand and recreated virtual infrastructure of VMware of ESXI (version 5.5) with connection of server notes to a storage system of IBM Storwize V7000. On virtual servers unrolled the SQL database. As means for the organization of backup the Symantec Backup Exec technology was used.

Results of testing at aggregation of ports and use of Symantec Backup Hot-Add (2015) technology

At the first stage of works specialists understood - aggregation of LAN does not allow to increase the speed of copying and data recovery considerably. During tests engineers of Trinity involved two/four aggregated ports from each party and it did not give a linear gain in work speed.

When testing, software restrictions of VMware on copying of data were not revealed, but detected a number of features of setup of copying/recovery by means of the agent of SQL for databases.

"Having faced impossibility of fall forward of copying of data, we made the assumptions of the reasons of this situation. The testing held by specialists of Trinity showed that not all from these hypotheses were correct. We received recommendations which will allow to increase its productivity without additional costs" — Vitaly Borodai, the chief of the department of information technologies of Convenient Money group said.

"The algorithm of setup of copying and recovery on SAN using functionality of Symantec Backup Hot-Add was developed for accomplishment of regulations of the organization of backup. Also audit of IT infrastructure of Convenient Money company was booked and recommendations about optimization of work of the available systems are formulated" — Dmitry Emaletdinov, the commercial director of Trinity Urals Ltd told.
