Hitachi Data Systems upgraded EDMS of Electronic Moscow

October 23, 2015. The Hitachi Data Systems company reported^[1] about upgrade of EDMS of Electronic Moscow.

At start of a system servers of standard x86 of architecture and the Linux operating system were used. At the moment in a system there are more than 27 million documents (more than 140 million files), 60 thousand active users working in a system create more than 24 thousand daily connections, and the number of the documents which are monthly added to a total turnover approaches one million. With increase in the number of the projects implemented by Electronic Moscow it became obvious that the EDMS initial configurations are not expected the similar volume of work and require upgrade.

Hitachi Data Systems proposed to Electronic Moscow the technological solution meeting her real requirements. EDMS was completely upgraded, in particular, the hardware-software complex providing file access under the NFS protocol was implemented. This approach gave to Electronic Moscow the chance to increase the volume of the stored data to 150 Tb and to support work with many millions of files.

The hardware and software system consists of a block part in the form of the Hitachi Unified Storage 150 disk array and the file gateways Hitachi NAS 4060 clustered for fault tolerance. Special attention is paid to the speed of work with Big Data on the NFS protocol: for its increase technologies of the organization of file access, such as Tiered File System are used. They allow to separate metadata from files and to place them at the productive level of information storage organized on a flash drives of Hitachi Flash Module Drive.
