2021: Update of WMS based on Manhattan SCALE
Korus Consulting Group has updated the WMS system for STD Petrovich, which made it possible to lay the foundation for the development of logistics processes and, as a result, the further expansion of the DIY retailer. The Manhattan SCALE platform has become more productive, improved the user experience thanks to a convenient interface and the ability to work in the system from any portable device, Korus Consulting reported on June 1, 2021. Moreover, now users form individual analytical reports on their own directly in WMS.
To manage warehouse processes, the company implemented WMS Manhattan SCALE more than five years ago. Despite the threefold growth of the business, the platform scaled with it and continued to work. To ensure that the current IT landscape does not limit the retail chain's plans and maintain the growing burden on warehouses, the retailer decided to update the environment.
In recent years, Petrovich carried out a phased renovation of warehouse equipment, environment, server architecture, and for the next stage of modernization - updating WMS to the latest (at the time of the release of this material) version - invited Korus Consulting, the official supplier of Manhattan solutions and partner of STD Petrovich since 2015.
The IT company's specialists were faced with the task of moving to the latest version of WMS quickly, while reducing the number of modifications using all the capabilities of the tool out of the box. Thanks to the flexible project implementation methodology and high-tech solution architecture, Korus Consulting upgraded the system in a short time. An updated version of the platform made it possible to abandon most improvements in favor of standard features.
According to the customer, the modernization has made the work of employees more convenient: interactive web interfaces allow you to view all information about stocks and status of shipments, statistics and reports from any device, while the configuration itself is carried out in the same way as the previous version of the platform. This allowed STD Petrovich to connect users to the updated WMS without additional training. In addition, the retailer was able to independently refine interfaces without the participation of external developers.

To implement the tasks of STD Petrovich, the Microsoft Dynamics 365 system was chosen as the most suitable technological solution with a mobile application. Korus Consulting became a partner of the project. In addition, Petrovich already had successful experience working with an integrator in the field of reorganization of logistics processes based on the Manhattan SCALE platform.
Implementation results
As a result of the project, Petrovich received a tool for comprehensive work with wholesale customers - from identifying needs to concluding an agreement and shipping. Also, the solution implemented a full cycle of preparation and approval of commercial proposals, the ability to select nomenclatures by commodity groups, articles and other characteristics, set up proposal routing for price formation and internal approval. The system monitors the quotations and informs if the scope of the object quotations does not meet the customer's needs.
In addition, the solution is integrated with geographic maps to visualize the objects for the sales department and facilitate the work of curators, helping them to optimally plan visits to construction sites.
2015: Automation of the distribution center
November 24, 2015. Korus Consulting announced the automation of the distribution center of the Russian network of the Hard DIY STD Petrovich format. The solution is implemented on the Manhattan SCALE platform.
Choice of solution
The active development of the business of STD Petrovich required the optimization of logistics processes and the implementation of a warehouse management system that meets the requirements of a large retail network.
As a result of monitoring the Russian market for warehouse management systems, the management of STD Petrovich chose the Manhattan SCALE WMS system. The choice of the solution was due to the rich functionality of the system, satisfying the industry specifics of the DIY market and the unique business processes of STD Petrovich. An important factor in choosing WMS was the design approach and the stated timing of the automation project of the distribution center. Project progress
The project was carried out in accordance with the implementation methodology of Manhattan Associates and was implemented on time, despite a number of difficulties due to the specifics of outdoor storage and the characteristics of DIY products. The automation of warehouse processes in the open area in real time was complicated by weather conditions, as well as the presence of oversized goods with complex marking.
The WMS system was launched during the period of peak seasonal demand, but the warehouse reached 100% performance on the tenth day of Manhattan SCALE.
In addition, the Yard Management module, a solution for optimizing vehicle management in the warehouse, was implemented and integrated with Manhattan SCALE.
During the WMS implementation project, Petrovich STD employees were trained, thanks to which the company received its own team of Manhattan SCALE support and development specialists, representatives of the integrator company told TAdviser.
