Softline implemented the SAM project in Bigboks construction company (Optoclub Ranks)

Softline announced in February, 2016 project completion of SAM Baseline according to the complex analysis of use of the software of Microsoft in Bigboks company. Inventory of program assets of the customer was as a result carried out, the status of the available licenses is specified. Now housekeeping overheads of IT infrastructure of the company are planned and calculated with the maximum accuracy.

"БигБокс" - the investment and construction and management company implementing the large project on construction and operational management of network of hypermarkets "RYaDY Optoclub". It is the new Russian network focused on a free at present niche of warehouse clubs in Russia with trading floors of self-service with the pallet calculation. A prototype of a business model of RYaDY Optoclub is the American network of COSTCO hypermarkets. Her main idea – sale of limited number of the most popular names at the best prices in the enlarged packaging. The company adheres to policy of formation of the shelf price, proceeding from the minimum margin sufficient for a covering of expenses and generation of small profit.

The start of the SAM Baseline project was caused by desire of the customer to analyze a current status of IT infrastructure for further optimization and planning of expenses on its support and also to increase the level of a maturity of management of program assets.

As the partner of the Bigboks project selected Softline company as her specialists have all necessary competences for project implementation of Software Asset Management (SAM). Being a certified partner of Microsoft according to the SAM program, Softline spends a full stroke of the procedures directed to improvement of quality of use of the software of vendor and also increase in its license compliance for customers.

The key tasks facing specialists of Softline within the SAM Baseline project were:

• carrying out technical inventory of software of Microsoft;
• the analysis of the documents of title relating to software products of vendor;
• verification of license compliance on the basis of the received materials;
• preparation of recommendations about optimization of use of the software, to decrease in legal and financial risks.

For carrying out the analysis of license compliance the solution Assessment and Planning Tool (MAP) recommended to Microsoft was used. During the project license purity of desktop OS, office applications, the server systems, development tools was checked. Inventory of program assets allowed to set most precisely the volume of the used program resources and to draw a conclusion on the standardized level of processes of SAM in the organization.

The detailed analysis of a current status of IT infrastructure of the company was our main objective. As a result, we will be able to use the data reflected in reporting documentation at creation of the long-term development strategy IT. It is sure that now we can manage proactively IT infrastructure, thereby increasing its fault tolerance. Besides, the carried-out inventory provided transparency of licensing and simplified financial planning of purchases of software.
