The Moscow Lyceum of information technologies No. 1533 found own cloud

On January 25, 2016 it became known of start of a private cloud by request Lyceum of information technologies No. 1533. The project the companies DEPO Computers and "TM Operator Group" executed^[1].

Before LIT used five-six servers on which data, including the theses of students created since 1991 were stored. The equipment became outdated and required replacement.

Project Results

The solution works on three servers of a line of DEPO Storm 3000 with the built-in disk storage system supporting RAID and hot disk arrays replacement of disks.

We gave to lyceum the single console of data management, the website, lyceum mail and other information. All this is in a private cloud. Together with partners it was succeeded to create economically attractive solution. The equipment DEPO Computers allowed to make more granular control and optimization of a program part of a cloud that increased flexibility and energy efficiency of the solution. Earlier the lyceum spent for payment of the electric power for 10-15% more, than now. The companies provided high fault tolerance: at failure of any server a system saves working capacity before failure elimination. The cloud became a part of IT infrastructure of LIT: in it the domain controller with support of AD (the Active Directory directory service, contains information on objects of network - computers, users, network devices) on 1500 users, the telephone server connecting in a unified number plan all buildings of lyceum, the mail server based on software open source Zimbra and also the lit.msu.ru Lyceum Commonwealth website functions. The customized applications used in educational process prepare for transfer in infrastructure.

New cloud infrastructure not only will provide computing requirements of lyceum for the next several years, but also will allow to deepen the educational modules connected with cloud computing. A part of infrastructure can be used and as project laboratory. Tatyana Kravchuk, director of LIT
