D-Link DWL-6700AP

DWL-6700AP is wireless dual-band access point.

On February 4, 2016 the D-Link company provided the external unified dual-band access point of N600 DWL-6700AP. The device is intended for the organization of scalable corporate wireless networks in the territory of industrial, educational, hotel complexes and the organization of Internet access in public places with a high density of subscribers^[1].

DWL-6700AP helps to create a transport wireless network (WDS) in the range of 5 GHz and at the same time to unroll a wireless network for connection of Wi-Fi-clients in the range of 2.4 GHz with connection speed to 300 Mbps in each of ranges.

The access point can work in a standalone mode. Use of several DWL-6700AP together with the controller helps to organize a geographically distributed wireless network with a possibility of movement of clients between access points without connection loss.

The device is executed in a heat - and the moisture resistant plastic body (IP55) with static protection to 6 kV, can be operated in the temperature range from-30ºС to 50ºС and is mounted on a wall of the building or a mast.

DWL-6700AP is equipped with console port RJ-45, two LAN ports 10/100Base-TX through any of which on the device it is supplied by means of Passive PoE injector which is included in the delivery. In addition to the main button of reset to factory defaults of "Reset" located on the body on an injector for convenience of operation the duplicative Reset button is placed. DWL-6700AP contains two directional antennas of the range of 5 GHz with gain amount 8 of dBi and two omni-directional antennas of the range of 2.4 GHz with dBi gain amount 3.

For convenience of setup of a transport wireless network in the range of 5 GHz on the DWL-6700AP side bar the LED four-level indicator of signal power allowing to control visually in the course of installation level variation of signal power depending on arrangement of access point is installed.

DWL-6700AP can work in the mode of the managed access point using DWC-1000 and DWC-2000 controllers and in a standalone mode. In the mode of autonomous access point protection of a wireless network and control of connection of clients are performed using protocols of enciphering of WEP, WPA/WPA2 (Personal/Enterprise), authentication 802.1X, filtering to the MAC address, the mechanism of isolation of the wireless client and a possibility of shutdown of broadcasting of SSID. In the mode of the managed access point the functionality of security extends due to use of function of the adaptive portal (Captive Portal) and WIDS technology for detection of not authorized points of accesses/clients and prevention of attempts of unauthorized access.

DWL-6700AP supports Multiple SSID technology with a possibility of creation to 8 virtual wireless networks and allows to segment network traffic, using different VLAN. The device supports protocol 802.1d Spanning Tree for ensuring fault tolerance of WDS connections, IEEE 802.1Q VLAN, function of balancing of loading and WMM (QoS).

Management and the DWL-6700AP setup in the mode of autonomous access point is implemented by means of the web interface or the command line interface (CLI) - at connection through console port. In the mode of the managed access point centralized operation and setup are executed using hardware controllers.

For February 4, 2016 as a part of a lineup of the unified access points:

• DWL-2600AP and DWL-3600AP working in the range of 2.4 GHz with speed of wireless connection up to 300 Mbps
• dual-band DWL-6600AP with the general speed of wireless connection up to 600 Mbps,
• DWL-8610AP is access point with support 802.11ac, class AC1750
• DWL-6610AP and DWL-8710AP of class AC1200.
