The Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port constructed the virtualized DPC based on EMC VPLEX Metro

Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port — the largest Russian port operator and the leader in goods turnover volume — announced in March, 2016 implementation in the main and reserve DPC the systems of virtualization EMC VPLEX Metro.

Round-the-clock (24х7) and high-intensity work of crucial business applications and services of port means providing a guarantee of automatic recovery of their functionality not only at failure of a certain node in specific DPC, but also at failure of all DPC. Moreover, for operational and correct work all DWH of the company should be most automated.

The system integrator for implementation and support of the project selected Intellectika company. Implementation of architecture of virtualization of EMC VPLEX Metro became an optimal solution of assigned tasks and also the first step towards IT transformation of business of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port. This solution allows to integrate disk resources of two geographically separated platforms in a uniform disaster-proof storage pool.

The virtualized DPCs ceased to be classified as the main and reserve as both steels active nodes of a single system. Also thanks to VPLEX Metro integration the recovery time of work of services in case of accidents and failures is minimized (equally to time of automatic restart on the working platform), and in a case with cluster systems, for example ORACLE RAC, in general is absent need of restart. For condition monitoring of both platforms EMC VPLEX Metro which is a part the solution EMC VPLEX Witness which allows to control work is used and in the automatic mode to provide the priority status of work to the VPLEX nodes.
