The Softline company announced in March, 2016 project completion on implementation of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2 (SCOM) in Ulmart company. The solution with a high accuracy defines arrangement of the arising errors and failures in IT infrastructure.
Ulmart — multiproduct online retailer of Russia. Logistic infrastructure of the retailer integrates over 480 representations located more than in 240 cities of Russia. Ulmart used the solution Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2 (SCOM) in the test mode, however its configuration allowed to trace not all parameters of infrastructure. For providing to IT personnel full access to the processes requiring observation it was necessary to implement SCOM again. Also this product optimum was suitable for monitoring of software solutions of Microsoft which functioned in infrastructure of online retailer. As the partner in the project the Softline company which provided to the customer services within the agreement of Enterprise Agreement was selected.
During preparation for implementation of SCOM engineers of Softline far off conducted examination of IT architecture of the customer, including earlier deployed solution, analyzed data on the processes requiring tracking. During work Sotline gave to Ulmart administrative support of IT processes; all necessary SCOM settings were configured.
As a result the customer received the monitoring system monitoring work about two hundred servers on Mirosoft Windows OS, several — based on OS of the Unix family and also services of applications launch, mail (Tomacat, Exchange), Sharepoint, etc. In addition, the system of visualization allowing administrators to understand in what status there is this or that service, using the web interface (without access to the SCOM console) was implemented, specified in Softline.
Implementation of SCOM set role structure of access to the traced parameters. Users with a role "administrator" could correct problems, "operators" — to watch a system status. Thus, employees executed the roles assigned to them and got access only to those processes which were necessary for them. At expansion of the staff of the company it is possible to optimize work of IT department using task allocation between employees.
"Our specialists unrolled a monitoring system based on one SCOM server with the fault tolerance level necessary for the customer. Back-end using SQL was unrolled on a dedicated server. Also the distributed applications — analogs service - the focused model which all components enter were created: from hard drives in storage system to internal systems. With administrators of each service critical settings for monitoring were defined and configured — Vitaly Popov, the head of group of infrastructure decisions of department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company told. — It should be noted that thanks to experience of Softline and the high level of professional competences of IT specialists of the customer the project was implemented in short terms".
