In November, 2017 the capital mayor's office transformed SUE Genplan Institute of Moscow from the unitary enterprise to the public autonomous institution. It follows from public data on institute in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (USRLE).

The legal address of institute did not change: 2nd Brestskaya St., 2/14. Oksana Garmash appointed in September of last year remained the director. "GAU "Institute of the General Plan of Moscow"" became the new official short name.

The main objective of reorganization is that the Government of Moscow will have an opportunity to transfer to institute a considerable part of orders without holding necessary competitive procedures. One of developers of the capital general plan on the condition of anonymity told RBC about it. According to him, participation in tenders turned for NIIPI into financial losses. Allegedly the institute "often had to reduce the cost of works when other participants began to dump".
