The Comparex company implemented the project on implementation of own service SAM2GO for management of program assets in Ring of the Urals bank. In a project deliverable the customer had an opportunity to exercise permanent monitoring and risk control in the form of license balance and also quarterly recommendations about consolidation and unification of set of all software.
In bank as the technical tool of inventory the solution Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), totally covering more than 1000 devices distributed on all offices is used. Due to the wide geographically-distributed structure of office network of bank which includes 67 departments in 53 cities and the settlements of Russia the IT of department faced difficulties when implementing requirement of management of software using only one solution for management of IT infrastructure. Data acquisition of license balance required many labor costs from employees of IT department of bank and there were not always free resources and competences for implementation of a task, and analysis results not always reflected a real picture of use of software.
For optimization of work of IT of service and costs for software and also control of legal and financial risks the IT management of bank made the decision on a project startup on management of program assets. As the supplier of the project the bank selected COMPAREX company. The company has rich experience of project implementation in the field of management of program assets (SAM) and has the gold status SAM of the Microsoft partner. Besides, COMPAREX together with the international company Amando Software developed complex approach to management of program assets – SAM2GO.
The SAM2GO service allows to determine the actual license status by each product which is used in IT infrastructure of the company. On the basis of the done analysis offers optimal ways of licensing of the used products softwares and also provides individual recommendations for use of all available advantages of these products. Besides, the customer gets access to a current status of license balance in real time by means of SAM2GO Dashboard.
As the provided functions of SAM2GO service most fully allowed to solve assigned tasks of Ring of the Urals bank and also service is easily integrated with already existing system of inventory of SCCM that did not require labor costs from IT of employees of the customer, the bank made the decision on deployment of this service.
Project implementation consisted of a number of tasks: receiving and analysis of history of purchases of software of bank; receiving reliable data of inventory in real time, the bank covering 99.9% of devices; automation of receiving indicators of license balance.
As a source of primary data of inventory SCCM, but as in IT infrastructure devices not only based on Windows of platforms were used was used, the additional source of data collection of SAM2GO Inventory thanks to what was involved it was succeeded to achieve transparency and reliability in data collection. As a result of the done work and data retrieveds the Ring of the Urals bank could reduce quantity set, but unused software. These indicators helped to optimize the IT budget of bank and to simplify processes of migration and updating.
