In Touch Bank the data warehouse works at EMC Greenplum DBMS

For the corporate data warehouse (DataWarehouse, DWH) Touch Bank uses specially developed multilevel database which works at a server cluster under control of EMC Greenplum.

Greenplum is the relational management system for the database (MSD) based on mass and parallel architecture (massive parallel processing, MPP) which assumes the organization of the database in the form of a cluster from several servers allowing to parallelize the performed processes.

The data warehousing framework is designed proceeding from requirements of business of Touch Bank on the basis of an industrial bank data model.

Data warehouses exist in many large and technological banks, however the choice of platform DBMS and a data model at them significantly differs. Touch Bank uses Greenplum DBMS specialized on analytic functions and optimal for data warehousing.

Basic function of DWH is consolidation of all business data of the organization in the uniform place and convenient for the analysis and creation of the analytical and management reporting a format.

Creation of corporate DWH allows:

• expand transparency of activity of business divisions,
• synchronize crucial transactions,
• provide a possibility of modeling for the purposes of business development,
• provide control and risk management.
