2017: RT-Inform equipped DPC of Sozvezdiye Concern

RT-Inform (Competence Center on IT and cybersecurity of State Corporation Rostec) supplied in the spring of 2017 the server hardware for equipment of DPC of Sozvezdiye Concern. Tender based on which RT-INFORM was recognized by the winner took place at the end of 2016. According to terms of the contract, the Concern was equipped with a set of DWH, servers and switches.

Constellation includes 19 enterprises located across all Russia. Thanks to the received engineering equipment, the enterprise centralized computing infrastructure of all available divisions in one system, having placed them based on new DPC.

2016: The Sozvezdiye concern will construct DPC on the equipment of the Russian producers

The Sozvezdiye concern is going to centralize computing infrastructure and to construct for this DPC in Voronezh, the representative of concern told TAdviser. According to him, the data center thinks as regional. The staff of the enterprises located in the different cities which are a part of concern will be able to work with systems placed in it.

The interlocutor of TAdviser explained that historically computing powers of Constellation were created separately as many affiliated enterprises which are its part worked and work enough independently of each other. Now in plans of concern for the first time – to create uniform DPC for the organizations.

About failure from the existing separate local computing platforms at the same time the speech does not go. Some systems will remain there, some – will be placed in new data center, the representative of Constellation adds.

Be under construction the new platform, according to the interlocutor of TAdviser, will be from scratch. At the same time the equipment for DPC where it is possible, is going to use from domestic manufacturers. So, the core of network of data center is going to be created using the equipment which releases the Russian producer "Bulat". In it in 37.5% through affiliated enterprise Scientific Research Institute Masshtabthe United Instrument Manufacturing Corporation (UIMC) which is a part of Rostec has a share.

According to the interlocutor of TAdviser, initially in new DPC it was going to use the telecom equipment of Huawei, however after release of the standard by Rostec according to which its enterprises should give preference to telecommunication equipment and self-produced ADP equipment, these plans were reviewed.

The source in concern added that, however, so far and at products Damask steel substantially there are localized technologies of Huawei, but in it there are also Russian practices which volume gradually should increase.

Speaking about a server component, the interlocutor of TAdviser notes that servers based on the IBM POWER processor with an open architecture are of interest to concern. In Russia the KNS Group company under the Yadro brand created within NCC is going to release them. It is the first participant of consortium OpenPOWER.

The Deputy CEO of KNS Group Artem Ikoyev told TAdviser that in development the company has a high-performance computing system of high density in POWER8 SCM Turismo base (in more detail about the server - according to the link). Planned date of receiving the prototypes ready to testing at customers, in the company designate December, 2016.

The Russian representative office of IBM told TAdviser that participants of consortium OpenPOWER can make own servers based on an open architecture of the POWER processor (POWER Linux) and also in the long term purchase the right to production of servers based on POWER processors running AIX OS. Also it is not just about local assembly, namely about production of own hardware-software product.

Earlier Kirill Kornilyev, the vice president for sales and the head of industrial solutions of IBM in Central and Eastern Europe,told TAdviser that the share of IBM in products which is prepared by the Russian partners based on the Power processor makes no more than 30% if to speak about financial side. Thus, these products can be considered as the Russian and are suitable for the import substitution purposes. Such approach, according to Kornilyev, is approved also by the Russian intelligence agencies which are responsible for security.

In addition to Constellation told about interest in the servers based on POWER manufactured in Russia also Sberbank.

Regarding the system software, according to the source TAdviser from Constellation, the concern on use of the Russian products or Open Source has no specific plans yet. The organization for this purpose did not test alternative DBMS and OS yet.
