2020: Project completion on digitization of a collection of the museum

ELAR corporation announced on December 9, 2020 project completion on digitization of a collection of the Museum of Modern Art Garage - archive on the history of the Russian modern art. Among more than 40,000 scanned units of documents there are archives of such theorists and curators of art as Margarita and Victor Tupitsyny, Frantsisko Infante-Arana, private papers of the artist Vladislav Mamyshev-Monro, archive of the famous art critic and curator Andrey Erofeyev and also archives XL, TV and Aydan of gallery, fund of ephemeridae, art activism and many other things.

So, for example, Tupitsyn' fund is an archive of curators, critics and theorists of art, recent and working in New York and Paris which includes documents on the history of the Soviet unofficial art and poetry since the end of the 1950th in end 1990th years, - the keeper, the employee of research department of the Museum "Garazh" Ruslan Balandin tells. — The archive of the art critic and curator Andrey Erofeyev is a collection of documents on curator and institutional practice. Andrey Erofeyev was a creator and the head of the USSR's first department in the museum devoted to the modern art - "The experimental sector of the latest currents of the State museum of arts and crafts of the people of the USSR" (nowadays - Memorial estate "Tsaritsyno") which was transformed further to department of currents of the State Tretyakov Gallery"

Digitization of documents is made on the ELAR contactless planetary scanners ensuring safety of originals in the course of scanning. The created electronic archive will be placed in the public RAAN (russianartarchive.net/ru) online directory.

RAAN ("Network of archives of the Russian art") is the project initiated by the Museum "Garazh" which accumulates in the online directory the significant archive collections devoted to the Russian art approximately since the end of the 1950th years before recent days including unofficial art of the Soviet period, - the senior keeper of archive, the employee of research department of the Museum "Garazh" Nastya Tarasova explains. — Not only the Archive of the Museum "Garazh", but also other institutions in Russia saving documents on local history of art participates in the project. In our base materials of the press, archives of galleries of the 1990th, and the personal archives which are brought together by artists, collectors and curators are provided. All these documents are connected among themselves and form base.

ELAR corporation digitized documents from collection of the museum of the modern art Garage among which the manuscript of the Russian conceptual artist Igor Makarevich and the famous collector of the Soviet underground Leonid Talochkin.

The archive of Garage plays a major role in activity of the museum and is the largest collection in the world devoted to the modern Russian art. Transfer to digit of these originals will allow private institution of culture to save unique documents and also to expand the project opportunities.

Among the scanned materials – documents from archive of the collector of underground art Leonid Talochkin: notebooks, diaries, manuscripts of participants of unofficial cultural life, correspondence. And the collection of Leonid Talochkin is in the State Tretyakov Gallery now. ELAR are transferred to an electronic form also documents from archive of the Russian conceptual artist, the member of the group "Collective actions", Igor Makarevich, a considerable array of newspaper cuttings and posters.
