PacketFence is an access control system to network (NAC). The product code extends according to license GPLv2.
On June 22, 2016 the community of developers and Inverse company announced release of release of PacketFence 6.1[1].
PacketFence supports providing the centralized input of users in network through wire and wireless channels with a possibility of activation via the web interface (captive portal). Integration with external user bases is supported through LDAP and ActiveDirectory, blocking of undesirable devices (for example, prohibition on connection of mobile devices or access points), check of traffic on viruses, identification of invasions (integration from Snort), audit of a configuration and program fittings of computers in network is possible. There are means for integration into the equipment Cisco Nortel Hewlett-Packard 3Com D-Link, Intel and Dell.
Main changes
- Support of the equipment based on CoovaChilli is added;
- The section for visualization of statistics of services on all nodes of a cluster is added;
- For the equipment Meraki support of RADIUS CoA (Change of Authorization) is implemented;
- The feature for a binding of the processors performed at completion of operation of the module portal is added;
- Possibility of determination of profiles for automatic registration of devices;
- Functions of audit of logs RADIUS server are taken out in the separate module in which support of preserving of the executed search queries is also implemented;
- In the module portal support of RADIUS CRAM (Challenge Response authentication) is added;
- The module for redirection of requests for internal and external web pages is added;
- Possibility of restriction of number of logins for the account;
- The interface of the administrator is available on each node of a cluster without the need for creation of a master-node;
- Performance of transactions of search is increased.
