Softline completed in the summer of 2016 the project on migration of corporate e-mail in "The Asian gas pipeline" on Microsoft Exchange 2013. Transition to the new version of the solution allowed the customer to save on the hardware used for system maintenance and also to increase its fault tolerance and security.
"The Asian gas pipeline" - the joint venture of the Kazakhstan company "Kaztransgaz" and Chinese "Trans Asia Gas Pipeline" created in 2008. Primary activity of a partnership is financing, design, construction and operation of the Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline and transportation of natural gas from Turkmenistan to China and also within the country.
Earlier in the company the solution Microsoft Exchange 2010 was used, but after its removal from support and a stop of release of service packs the customer made the decision on migration of corporate mail on the new version of a product - Exchange 2013. The maximum fault tolerance in terms of client connections and mail delivery was the main requirement to a system. The Softline company with which "the Asian gas pipeline" cooperates within the agreement of Enterprise Agreement acted as the partner of the project. Project works were carried out on the platform of the customer to Almaty.
Preparation for migration was executed by the customer independently according to instructions of specialists of Softline company that allowed to carry out the main project works to most short time. Data transfer mechanisms from the existing mail system were developed and tested, the Exchange 2013 servers are deployed and published in the Internet, services and mailboxes are postponed and the Exchange 2010 servers are taken out of service. As means of the publication IIS ARR (Aplication Request Routing) instead of TMG (Threat Management Gateway) which is also removed from the main support was selected.
In a project deliverable the customer provided with the current version of corporate e-mail based on Microsoft Exchange Server of 2013 all employees (1400 users). Users for whom continuous access to mail is necessary can receive it using Outlook Web Access, Outlook Anywhere and Exchange ActiveSync for work with the help of mobile devices.
The solution architecture is under construction on 4 servers located in the system of Hyper-V virtualization. Before migration the decision on use of two existing boundary servers was made. Other two servers combine server roles of mailboxes and client access.
Optimization of work with the data warehouse of mailboxes of users became advantage to IT specialists.
