MobileDaRt Evolution is a series of digital mobile X-ray machines developed by Shimadzu. They are widely used in emergency departments, children's treatment facilities, trauma services and intensive care units. As of February 2017, the company has sold more than 3,000 such digital mobile X-ray systems worldwide.
2022: Release of an X-ray scanner that can be carried around the hospital
On July 11, 2022, Shimadzu Medical Systems announced the release of the MobileDaRt Evolution MX8 Version V X-ray scanner. Its feature is that it is mobile - it can be transported around the hospital from the diagnostic office to the ward, etc.
According to the manufacturer, since 2020, the need for mobile X-ray systems for diagnosing pneumonia caused by the COVID-19 virus has increased worldwide. This growth in demand continues even two years after the start of the pandemic in a number of regions and countries with developing economies. In addition, DR units for various X-ray systems used in healthcare facilities have become diverse in recent years, and Shimadzu is committed to continuously improving its line.
To meet demand, Shimadzu has added the MobileDaRt Evolution MX8 Version V product to its range. It is equipped with GLIDE Technologies' patented motion assistance system, which provides smooth and maneuverable operation in steep turns. In accordance with the requirements of the medical institution, Shimadzu provided 3 types of DR installations equipped with various types of digital X-ray detectors and an integrated digital system. In total, more than 7,000 digital mobile X-ray systems have already been sold worldwide.
The entire plant can be easily moved to a location where X-ray examination is required. As for the positioning of the radiography system, it is not difficult to extend and position the support holding the X-ray tube. After receiving the images, you can immediately check them on the built-in (19-inch square) monitor. As you move, the support column folds above the main block to safely move the system without obscuring the view.[1]
2018: MobileDaRt Evolution Model Announcement MX8
In February 2018, Shimadzu Medical Systems introduced a new version of the device for digital radiography - MobileDaRt Evolution MX8. Shimadzu provided this model with a folding support post for an X-ray tube, which allows you to compactly pack the entire system for transportation.
The height of the previous model was 1930 mm, and the dimensions of the MobileDaRt Evolution MX8 were only 1270 mm high and 560 mm wide, which is 20 mm earlier. The collapsible support rack allows you to use the device in a limited space and increases its mobility. This retains the intuitive movement control used in previous versions of the device - this function has always been highly appreciated by users.
The ergonomic design of the device is designed for use in clinics and hospitals - the system is equipped with a convenient wireless switch, a new electronic clamp for a mobile flat detector and a handrail with an adjustable height. Unlike the 17-inch monitor of previous models, the new device is equipped with a new flat 19-inch monitor. The maximum focal length of X-rays is also increased by 15 mm (for comparison, the focal length of the previous model was 2.025 mm). This makes it easier to investigate patients who lie on high-lying surfaces. The creators have not forgotten about safety either - for example, a new function has been added to lock the compartment with a flat detector.
In addition, in 2018, Shimadzu is promoting a concept called "DR Neutral," which allows hospitals to use all digital radiography systems in conjunction with mobile devices. Also built into the new device is Canon's lightest 14-inch flat screen in this industry, which provides mobility and devices and ease of control.[2]
2017: Announcement of MX7k with Konica Minolta console CS-7
In February 2017, Shimadzu Medical Systems USA, part of Shimadzu Corporation, announced a new version of the MobileDaRt Evolution MX7 digital X-ray machine. The model under the designation MobileDaRt Evolution MX7k received the Konica Minolta CS-7 console.
The system offers three options for flat digital detectors, differing in size and characteristics. The device allows displaying an X-ray pattern on the monitor screen 2 seconds after exposure.
The manufacturer also attributed the advantages of the novelty to the slow movement function, the central lock (electromagnetic blocking), wide coverage (extension of the X-ray tube), an X-ray dosimeter, individual selection of the handrail height, intuitive control over the movement of the X-ray apparatus without force (automatic activation of the electric motor when pressing the handrail for movement).
Clicking on the touch screen starts sending the image to a workstation that is part of the information system of the medical institution. The MobileDaRt Evolution Digital Ward Machine System provides support for the DICOM standard when storing and printing an image, as well as the MWM data exchange protocol, which allows automatic registration of the list of patients who have been assigned a radiographic examination. Data can be sent via either an optical cable or a wireless network connection.
Shimadzu has equipped MobileDaRt Evolution MX7k the new console of laboratory assistant Konica Minolta CS-7, which has a convenient graphical interface, new functions and high performance. The software design of the console can be changed according to client preferences. The system uses a large 17-inch screen with high resolution.
The system has been improved with improved work with routine operations and increased space for storing small items. To quickly prepare the device for free movement around the hospital or ward, only one button is used.[3]
2016: Announcement of MX7
At the end of July 2016, Shimadzu introduced the MX7 X-ray machine, which added to the MobileDaRt Evolution line. The novelty has received additional software functions, a built-in large monitor for viewing medical images and a convenient design.
One of the features of the MX7 is the Smart seCURE power management function, which effectively uses the battery, minimizing unnecessary power consumption.
The system is also equipped with a quick launch function (in just one minute) and a new 17-inch LCD touchscreen monitor, which makes working with the device more convenient. For more comfortable operation, in addition, small item storage systems are provided.
The flat panel X-ray detector (FPD) can have different sizes and sensitivity - depending on the requirements of the medical facility. For example, you can choose a 2.5-kilogram module measuring 35.6 x 43.2 cm, which makes it the lightest among FPD solutions with comparable dimensions.
The novelty has moisture resistance that meets the IPX6 standard, which was not in previous models of MobileDaRt Evolution.
All systems of this series provide support for the DICOM standard when storing and printing the image, as well as the MWM data exchange protocol, which allows automatic registration of the list of patients who were assigned a radiographic examination.
By the time of the announcement of MobileDaRt Evolution MX7, it was not known about the timing of the appearance of this device on the market and its cost.[4]
