Financial year comes to the end on March 31.
2017: The medical equipment generated 17.5% of revenue
According to the results of the financial year which came to the end on March 31 the 2018th calendar revenue of Shimadzu made 376.5 billion yens against 342.5 billion yens the previous year. Net profit also increased — from 26.5 to 29.9 billion yens.
The lion share of revenues of Shimadzu still make an analytical and metering equipment. Proceeds from sales of such equipment raised year on year from 209.2 to 231.6 billion yens, and profit increased from 33.1 up to 37 billion yens.[1]
The most part of revenues of Shimadzu still arrives from the Japanese market. There annual revenues of the company reached 187.7 billion yens against 175.9 billion yens the previous year. China where turnover for the reporting 12-month period appeared to equal 68.4 billion yens remains the second in value market for the company, having increased approximately by 12 billion yens of rather previous year.
In the countries of North and South America the company increased income from 42.5 to 48.1 billion yens, and the European market (mainly Britain and Germany) brought to the Japanese producer 27.6 billion yens while for the reporting year closed on March 31 the 2017th the indicator was measured by 24.9 billion yens. At last, revenue in other countries of Asia raised from 33 to 34.1 billion yens.
Sales of Shimadzu in the medical market in a year practically did not change and made about 65.9 billion yens that corresponds to 17.5% in the total turnover of the company. Profit in this business remains one of the smallest among divisions — 2.7 billion yens from April 1, 2017 till March 31 of the 2018th. The previous year profit was at the level of 1.9 billion yens. Nearly a half of sales of the medical equipment is the share of the radiographic systems, and most of all — 55% — medical equipment were sold in the Japanese market. The share of Europe made 5%, a share of North and South America — 16%.
Business in Russia
For June, 2016 a general distributor of Shimadzu in Russia is the Interanalit group.
2017: Cooperation with Far Eastern Federal University
In June, 2017 Shimadzu announced cooperation increase with Far Eastern Federal University (DVFU). Partners intend to open new research laboratories in the field of natural sciences and biomedicine and also to direct the employees for lecturing.

Within long-term partnership Shimadzu opened the international laboratory of a material test at Engineering school. On the latest equipment scientific DVFU, the University Osaka (Japan) and the Dortmund university (Germany) conduct joint developments of new materials for the industry.
Shimadzu notes that the line of devices set in university for static tests is the most complete in Russia. Also since 2013 the company encourages students and graduate students of DVFU with grants.
The head of the Russian representative office of "Shimadzu Europa Gmbh" Kakatsu Takakhiro emphasized that experience of creation of joint laboratory of a material test can be broadcast on other spheres. Shimadzu is interested in equipment of the DVFU new laboratories in the high quality equipment for biomedical, pharmacological, chemical and other natural-science researches. Shimadzu lecture halls can become one more direction of cooperation — the company is ready to direct employees for training at students by analytical methods of researches, Takakhiro noted.
By June, 2017 in Far Eastern Federal University more than 100 pieces of equipment are collected: from devices for carrying out laboratory works as students to the high quality equipment which some samples are unique in scales of Russia. [2]

2019: Shimadzu purchased equipment supplier and services of medical visualization of CMI
At the beginning of January, 2019 Shimadzu announced purchase of equipment supplier and services of medical visualization of Core Medical Imaging for the purpose of expansion of business in North America. Read more here.
2018: Merger of Infraserv Vakuumservice
On June 26, 2018 the Shimadzu corporation signed the agreement on acquisition of all stocks Infraserv Vakuumservice (IVG). IVG completely will carry over Shimadzu after the conclusion of the transaction in July. Read more here.
2017: Start of the center of development of innovations in Singapore
On November 17, 2017 the innovation center of research and development founded by Shimadzu and its subsidiary company Shimadzu (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd opened. for involvement of local researchers.
By the time of start in the innovation center Shimadzu in Singapore 7 employees work. In the future this state is planned increases. Specialists began to use results of scientific research of both the parent company, and other organizations, such as universities and research institutes of the Pacific Rim.
Shimadzu is going to organize several commands on work on projects which would include engineers and marketing specialists from the main office of the company in Japan. Sense of consolidation of the central and regional offices in beginning joint work over projects at early stages using advanced technologies. Prototypes will be developed in Singapore, and then to be transferred to the main office in Japan for creation of the final version ready to entry into the market.
The innovation center Shimadzu cooperates with Institute of ecological researches of the National University of Singapore, developing the highly sensitive ecological sensor for detection of phosphorus and nitrogen in water of the rivers and lakes, and is going to bring to the market the ready device by the end of 2020.
In the press release it is said that Shimadzu advances joint surveys and developments outside Japan, cooperating with the universities, research institutes and the innovative companies worldwide. For several years the company opened several innovation centers in the USA, China and Germany which will work together with the new center in Singapore on development of unique devices in the field of analytical devices and measuring devices.[3]
2016: Purchase of the Brazilian distributor of SINC
On August 1, 2016 the Japanese producer of the medical equipment Shimadzu announced purchase of SINC for the purpose of strengthening of the business on any release of devices.
The price of the transaction is not set. Shimadzu only notes that the agreement was signed at the end of April, 2016 through Brazilian "subsidiary" of SBL (Shimadzu do Brasil Comercio) in whom about $12 million Read more here were invested.
