2018: Shimadzu purchased Infraserv Vakuumservice
On June 26, 2018 the Shimadzu corporation signed the agreement on acquisition of all stocks Infraserv Vakuumservice GmbH (IVG). IVG completely will carry over Shimadzu after the conclusion of the transaction in July.
It is expected that thanks to development of artificial intelligence and Internet of Things in the market demand for the turbomolecular pumps used for creation of extreme vacuum pressures by production of the semiconductor equipment will quickly grow. In 2017 sales of the turbomolecular pumps Shimadzu grew by 34% in comparison with the same period of 2016.
The Shimadzu subsidiary company in North America is responsible for sales of turbomolecular pumps in the European market of the semiconductor equipment. However, to develop business in Europe and further, Shimadzu considered it necessary to strengthen the position in the market and to organize technical support for buyers. The IVG company which services a vacuum equipment of large European producers was for this purpose purchased. IVG has the advanced technological capabilities and for years of existence purchased the extensive customer base. Besides, Shimadzu attracted IVG to rendering services in service of turbomolecular pumps also earlier.
Thus, Shimadzu aims to strengthen the position in the European market of service of turbomolecular pumps and hopes to expand the customer base, having delegated IVG powers of subsidiary company from North America. Shimadzu intends to increase sales returns and service of the corresponding equipment in Europe and, according to forecasts, by 2022 should increase the net profit of IVG approximately to 21 million euros.
