The number of connections to WI-FI network in the trains "Aeroexpress" exceeded 4 million

2019: Over 4 million connections to Wi-fi network in the trains "Aeroexpress"

On March 26, 2019 the Aeroexpress company reported that since launch free passengers were connected by Wi-fi of network in the trains "Aeroexpress" to it over 4 million times.

Wi-Fi in Aeroexpress is most demanded by passengers at the age of 25-34 years – about 33% of all Internet sessions are the share of them. The greatest number of connections occurs by means of smartphones – about 87%. 7% of users use tablets, and using notebooks 6% of Internet sessions are made.

The Maxima Telecom company which is an operator of Wi-fi networks on transport infrastructure of Moscow carried out a large-scale complex of works to provide passengers Aeroexpress with the stable high-speed Internet. Upgrade of networks within which audit of network is performed was for this purpose carried out and the equipment Wi-fi firmware is updated. Besides, the upgraded network appeared in double-decked trains which ply on the Domodedovo and Vnukovo directions since the end of 2017.

2018: Increase in number of connections to Wi-fi network

On September 13, 2018 the Aeroexpress company together with the operator of Wi-fi networks on transport infrastructure of Moscow Maxima Telecom reported that the number of connections to Wi-fi network in the trains "Aeroexpress" from January to August, 2018 increased by 41% in comparison with the same period of 2017 and made more than 1.3 million.

In 2017 Maxima Telecom completed large-scale upgrade of networks in the trains "Aeroexpress" — booked audit of network, updated an equipment Wi-fi firmware. Besides, the upgraded network appeared in double-decked trains. All these works were carried out within preparation of Wi-Fi-infrastructure for World Cup 2018. As it was reported, connection to the Internet in aeroexpress trains is free and is available on all directions of train service. To get Internet access, it is necessary to undergo identification procedure and authorizations.

2016: Monetization of Wi-fi

On August 8, 2016 the press service of Maxima Telecom company announced the project of monetization of free Wi-Fi in all trains of Aeroexpress company providing railway communication between the capital and the airports of the Moscow aviation node: Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo.
