VMware User Environment Manager (UEM - before Immidio Flex+)

User Environment Manager (UEM) is a product for management of the user's environment in virtual and physical infrastructure.

2019: User Environment Manager 9.8

On June 26, 2019 it became known that the VMware company released User Environment Manager 9.8.

Updates and additions of User Environment Manager 9.8 mentioned by the developer:

1. Additional clever politicians (Smart Policies). It is possible to include or switch off audio playback which is applied to the Blast and PCoIP protocols. Also through clever politicians it is possible to optimize the Blast Extreme protocol. Besides, it is possible to configure the Drag and Drop mechanism. Work of all these functions will require Horizon agent of version 7.9 or more late.
2. Support of conditions for regular expressions. In UEM 9.8 there are regular expressions at setup smart the politician and also the mechanism of determination of conditions which is valuable by drawing up templates of search.
3. Chrome the Option Client at a condition task for Endpoint Platform. For Chrome devices 2 additional options - the Chrome ARC setup ++ for Android- applications performed on the device and also Chrome Native for the native client appeared. This option requires Horizon Client 5.1 or more late versions. This opportunity for devices with the Chrome Horizon Blast and PCoIP protocols is available (Citrix ICA as of July, 2019 is not supported).
4. Amazon FSx Support. In the provided version of UEM there was a full support file Windows of the Amazon FSx for File Server system which represents native cloud FS for machines based on Windows Server. 2018: User Environment Manager of version 9.6

On August 9, 2018 it became known that the VMware company released the version of User Environment Manager 9.6.

1. A possibility of registration of devices by QR codes.

Now the user can register the device as working using scanning of the QR code. So far it works only for Android devices.

2. Support of Biometeric Passcode for Android devices.

Now as authentication it is possible to use mechanisms of recognition of the person or a fingerprint.

3. The simplified configuration of profiles for devices of Samsung.

Now standard politicians Samsung Knox are integrated in the Android Work Managed profile profile. Namely:

• Passcode
• Restrictions
• Date/Time
• APN

4. The Factory Reset Protection function for Android devices.

Now the procedure of reassignment of devices to users significantly became simpler and does not require data of the previous account.

5. Support of one general device for several users.

This important function for Android allows users to do check-in and check-out on the device that gives the chance to save on devices and at the same time ensures safety.

6. Control of the manager of tasks in Chrome OS.

Now there is a Chrome OS Application Control Profile profile which controls a possibility of users to complete tasks in Task Manager.

7. The Verified Device Mode mode for Chrome OS.

It is the Chrome OS function in the section of Chrome OS Security & Privacy profiles which is convinced that requirements to security are observed before loading of the device.

8. The Skip Screen settings for iOS. Now this function prevents notifications for the following components during the operation of Setup Assistant Apple:

• iMessage and FaceTime
• Software Update
• Screen Time

9. USB Restricted Mode for iOS.

Allows to turn Lightning-port only into the port of charging, without a possibility of use of USB if the device was not unlocked within a week.

10. Remote View for IOS function.

She allows to browse the device screen far off.

11. Functions of independent management of the Mac OS applications.

It allows to unroll more flexibly and quickly applications and to give to users the chance locally them to delete.

12. The improved notifications about installation of applications.

Now to the administrator notifications about successfully installed applications and also the status of updates come.

13. Remote reset of Windows 10.

Via the console or API it is possible to send a reset command for Windows 10 devices which will be performed in 5 minutes (it will allow to save data to users).

14. The consolidated viewing OEM updates of Windows 10.

Now all updates it is visible in uniform representation with a possibility of filtering on type: audio driver, chipset driver, BIOS updates and another.

15. Rotation of certificates of SSL for VMware Tunnel.

Now it is possible to add on the fly up to two certificates for a SSL tunnel and to change them without stopping works of users.

16. Installation type of Unified Access Gateway (UAG).

Now administrators I can use Unified Access Gateway (UAG) as installation type and to configure Content Gateway on UAG or to smigrirovat existing Windows or Linux Content Gateway on UAG.

17. Possibility of SAML authentication for separate services.

Now cleaning of the device automatically deletes also its Azure-token^[2].

• SyncTool is the utility for synchronization of settings of users for slow connections. It synchronizes resources of a profile and configuration files that offline allows the user to work.
• Active Directory – FlexEngine customizer through Group Policy.
• Central Config share is the central file store of a configuration
• Network folder per user is a shared folder of the user.
• Management Console is the central management console.
• Application Profiler – software of creation of profiles of applications - simplifies creation of configuration files with the preconfigured configuration.
• Helpdesk Support Tool is the utility with opportunities of technical support, including means on work with backup copies, the analysis of the operating profiles and viewing magazines of registration of events.

2015: Acquisition of VMware and renaming into UEM

In February, 2015 VMware purchased Immidio company, she created and developed the product Immidio Flex+. This product is renamed into VMware User Environment Manager (UEM) and added to structure of a line of VMware Horizon.
