ALROSA automated management of IT assets

On October 24, 2016 the Softline company announced control automation by IT assets in diamond-mining company ALROSA.

Project Tasks

The management of ALROSA made the decision on design and system implementation of management of IT assets (ITAM). Its existence at the enterprises will help to reduce housekeeping overheads of IT resources, to make their use effective, to provide license purity according to requirements of the Russian legislation.

Tasks in the project progress:

• regular inventory of the used software at workstations and servers with updating of data on licenses;
• verification of the acquired information;
• monitoring of use of the software by users;
• creation of the single database of all documents of title;
• warning of specialists of the events connected with licensing;
• development and deployment of regulations on management of "lifecycle of software" based on the international standard ISO 19770-1 "Informatsionnye tekhnologii. Management of program assets".

Project Progress

Analyzing the level of the operating IT infrastructure, a circle of tasks and business needs of the customer, specialists of the contractor recommended to use Flexnet Manager technology.

This packet of software products is intended for automated management of IT assets. With its help "smart" account of software on the basis of the analysis of library of rights to use is kept and consolidated statements about actually found, used products with the list acquired licenses and the rights prepare.

Specialists of Softline inspected more than 5 thousand PCs and 372 servers in divisions of ALROSA company in the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic, Moscow, Moscow area. The management system for IT assets is implemented taking into account scaling of infrastructure and expansion of the park of the equipment to 7.5 thousand PCs.

Project Results

In a project deliverable experts of Softline entered data on names softwares (more than 3 thousand), applications (over 226 thousand) into a management system for IT assets of the customer and collected 450 packets of documents of title. The ALROSA company received centralized operation by the software, the developed complex of internal processes, an opportunity to perform monitoring of needs for acquisition of software. The management tool IT assets implemented by specialists of Softline allows us to provide the centralized and structured data storage, in the automatic mode to analyze the software and PC configurations, to keep account of IT assets and to manage their lifecycle. All this will reduce costs for administration of resources and will rationally distribute load of specialists. Thanks to the implemented solution we could centralize processes of acquisition of software in ALROSA, optimize use of the available licenses and also it is essential to lower purchase costs of new units of software.
