Content

On December 21, 2016 the INVITRO-Information technologies company announced an implementation project of the platform of Agfa Healthcare company for archiving and management of images Agfa Healthcare Enterprise Imaging in infrastructure of Invitro company.

Project Tasks

With development of the diagnostic service using the hi-tech medical equipment (KT, MRT are tomographs, mobile and stationary X-ray, the mammograph, OUSE devices), there was a question of creation of the common information space integrating and managing medical images.

In the summer of 2015 the task - to unroll the system of archiving of medical images and the system of teleradiology as the main business model of radiological services was set[1].

Invitro, (2013)

It was required for the company:

  • the vendoro-independent platform for use of the diagnostic equipment of any producers,
  • scaling option of the solution for work with large volumes of diagnostic data
  • the platform should work in the conditions of geographically distributed business - with its help it is necessary to receive far off the decisions of specialists of the Moscow radiological center.

Independent examination of the presented solutions was carried out. By its results the technology of Agfa Healthcare company – the platform for archiving and management of images Agfa Healthcare Enterprise Imaging is selected. The transmission system and archivings of DICOM of images (PACS), processing system of radiological data is a part of this platform (RICE), a storage system of Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA), clinical applications and also the universal interface of web access to the single database. The solution Agfa Healthcare completely conformed to our requirements to performance, fault tolerance and security.

The choice of a system was carried out taking into account opinion of doctors-radiologists.

Project Progress

Implementation began in November, 2015.

the solution Proposed by us is something bigger, than just the PACS system or archive storage

Thanks to harmonious work of staff of Invitro and Agfa company we managed to unroll, configure and adapt for workflows the Agfa Healthcare Enterprise Imaging platform at the scheduled time. System implementation caused development of all IT infrastructure of the diagnostic centers "Invitro" and implementation of new IT services, such as integration universal web prosmotrovshchika with a personal account of the patient and Mies.

The solution architecture allows to use in the most optimal way resources of a hardware platform and network infrastructure. It gives the chance to significantly reduce total ownership cost. In particular, the technology of proxy caching DICOM traffic guaranteeing fast completion of data transmission from the diagnostic equipment in DICOM - a proxy cache on a local network and instant access to these data for local diagnostic viewing still is applied to reduction of requirements to communication channels between DPC and the diagnostic centers before they are completely transferred to the central cluster. At the same time all users remain clients of the central cluster and participate in the uniform integrated workflow.

Results of implementation are measured, first of all, by indicators which we reached. So, today results of 68 thousand researches are kept in the Agfa Healthcare Enterprise Imaging system. In November, 2016 3 thousand patients addressed to radiological service of the medical centers of Moscow and Nalchik. Revenue from rendering radiological services according to the results of November, 2016 exceeded 10 million rubles while on start of our project it made 1.5 million rubles.

With implementation of Agfa Healthcare Enterprise Imaging it is expected:

  • Increase in efficiency of use of the medical equipment by the accurate organization and optimization of workflows, the direction and tracking of flows of researches, reduction of waiting time of historical researches at workstations of the doctor.
  • Fast transfer of results of researches from remote clinics in the radiological center of Moscow for the expert analysis or obtaining "the second opinion".
  • Integration of the universal program of web viewing medical and multimedia images (XERO Viewer) with a personal account of the patient and with the medical record of the patient. Medical images are available from any point both to patients, and to doctors.
  • The reliable storage of medical images, modern stations of their processing and the analysis allowing to integrate in uniform diagnostic process resources in Moscow and on remote platforms.
  • High interoperability of the existing systems. End-to-end data transmission and information exchange between the unrolled systems according to the international standards in the industry (IHE, HL7, WADO).
  • A system is completely adaptive, has the big range of customization and is configured according to requirements of doctors, administrators and the managements of Invitro clinics.

Results of researches are available in a personal account of the patient not only in the form of the link to the standard image, but also in the 3D format - reconstruction. It considerably increases their value both for the patient, and for doctors-clinical physicians.
