Intel Clear Linux

Clear Linux is the compact operating system on the basis of a core of Linux for deployment of the virtualized environment in the form of^[1]

In Intel Linux the Clear Distribution project there was a new version of Clear Linux Developer Edition which includes the new installer and storage (store) and which integrates the tools offering to developers the operating system with already all included hardware functions of Intel. Besides, Clear Linux finds more and more applications today and provides seamless integration and optimization of all hardware functions of Intel and key workloads with support of software stacks^[2] for deep learning and data analysis. Thanks to the high performance, security, simplicity in operation and to opportunities of individual preference Clear Linux is the fine choice for Linux of developers.

• The stack of Deep Learning Reference Stack is the integrated, high-performance open platform optimized for Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors. This stack includes Intel® Deep Learning Boost technology (Intel DL Boost) and is intended for acceleration of workloads using artificial intelligence, such as image identification, detection of objects, speech recognition or language translation.
• The stack of Data Analytics Reference Stack was created to help corporate customers to analyze, classify, distinguish and process large volumes of data. The stack is constructed based on the Intel® Xeon® Scalable platforms using Apache Hadoop and Apache Spark*.

2015

In May, 2015 the Intel company submitted the compact operating system on the platform of a core Linux — Clear Linux. Implementation of technology of containers received the name Clear Containers.

Linux from Intel it is similar according to the destination to systems CoreOS, Red Hat Atomic Host, HuevOS, RancherOS, etc.

Representing a product, the developer company stated: "Clear Linux Project for Intel Architecture is a distribution kit for different application in clouds. We want to show the best at architecture of Intel: from low-level opportunities of a core to the difficult applications using all stack of OS. We put emphasis on optimization of energy consumption and performance in all operating system. [.] We have no purpose to make one more Linux distribution kit of general purpose — sometimes "minimum-and-fast" better, than "big-and-universal""^[3].

As a part of Clear Linux of an operating time from OpenStack for implementation of the necessary opportunities which number is minimized - the Clear Linux distribution kit does not switch on the graphical interface (GUI) and support of printing.

The containers Clear Containers - a virtualization basis in Clear Linux, are positioned as "safe, fast virtual machines with small consumption of memory that allows to start them in a large number by physical machines".

Developers paid special attention to loading — the containers Intel Clear start in thousands of milliseconds. As a hypervisor of Clear Containers modifed kvmtool from KVM, and for decrease in consumption of memory — a possibility of DAX (direct access) is used, it appeared in Linux 4.0 kernel (for ext4 file system).
