Promsvyazbank installed a complex of monitoring of business systems

On February 7, 2017 the Technoserv company announced development and deployment of an end-to-end system of monitoring of the main applications in Promsvyazbank bank.

As the contractor on creation and implementation of the platform of monitoring the customer selected Technoserv integrator, and Riverbed – the supplier of software solutions.

Project Progress

The project is performed in three stages:

• analytical,
• architectural
• install.

Within the first stage specialists Technoserv conducted a research and the analysis of systems for monitoring. Experts of a command analyzed business logic, the main transactions, functionality and adjacent requests of systems. IT infrastructure of bank underwent a detailed research.

On the basis of collected information within the second stage system architecture of monitoring is developed and the logic of its further implementation is created.

A system consists of several components:

• Riverbed AppResponse Xpert (is responsible for the analysis of traffic),
• agency monitoring of Riverbed AppInternals (the analysis of the "Enterprise-applications" of bank created using the Java programming language and the .NET platform)
• Riverbed NetProfiler (analysis of components of infrastructure, their influence on performance of applications).

The final stage of system implementation - installation and setup of all solution components for each business application of bank.

Data from all components are flown down in the uniform portal created "over a system" with providing the corresponding statistics and the analytics on operation of applications supporting them systems and the equipment. The solution is integrated with CA Spectrum monitoring system. She is exploited in bank during the certain time frame and in fact the "umbrella" solution where data from all available monitors of the systems of bank are transferred.

Project Results

In a project deliverable on monitoring eight business and critical systems of bank are delivered:

• main core banking system of bank,
• systems of remote banking PSB-Retail and PSB On-Line,
• systems for trade and accounting in financial markets, the SMS gateway of bank and the digital bus. The implemented complete solution allows to trace performance of components:
• servers,
• network devices,
• software of operating systems, applications
• receive analytical data for operational decision-making on elimination of problems.

The status of all components gives understanding about the status of business processes of interaction of clients of bank with systems and also statuses of integration interaction and requests between systems in information landscape of bank, and it is possible with detailing before specific transaction of the specific user.

Today for performance improvement of employees of the bank and preserving of high standards of customer service it is not enough to have the high-performance equipment and to provide services with high availability. Taking into account business development of Promsvyazbank and a trend to centralization of IT resources, increases in speed of changes, we came that traditional monitors – health-check – do not allow to reveal all problem places quickly. These components represent only a part of the created solution. The project has complex character, historically in many organizations monitoring was limited to separate segments of IT infrastructure – network, servers, DWH ensuring operation of applications and IT services. In this case six components of the Riverbed SteelCentral platform which allow to estimate performance of the IT environment of bank in general are installed. As far as I know, it is the first Russian project of creation of command center of IT of such scale with Riverbed participation. Application monitoring allows to reveal bottlenecks, to lower waiting time of a response of a system to actions of users and, as a result, it is essential to increase the speed of reaction to degradation of performance of applications, to quickly make necessary changes. This system well fits into the control circuit changes, in particular reduces a cycle of making changes and new business functionality. Thus, performance improvement of employees of the bank is provided that allows Promsvyazbank to exist effectively in the highly competitive environment and to provide to clients the best service. The monitoring system is ground on performance measurement of work of users. We can trace all way of passing of a client request and the answer of a system to it, up to the specific user who had a problem with application performance. And we have no need to wait for the address of the user, a system will independently detect "anomaly" on this or that section and will notify the system administrator or the engineer of a duty shift. For the next year we plan start of the new project which will be devoted to development of the created monitoring system. Today we conduct study of a task which means replication, increase in number of the transactions delivered on monitoring and business systems of Promsvyazbank. It means achievement of full control over business processes for us, high-quality and timely incident management and as the end result – cost reduction on elimination of accidents and quality improvement of customer service of bank.
