In February, 2017 it became known of receiving Canon of the large contract for delivery of the radiological equipment for needs of the American army.
The order was made by the logistic agency of the Defense Logistics Agency. The Toshiba America Medical Systems company, been a part of Canon at the end of 2016 as a result of acquisition of medical business of Toshiba by the Japanese company, will supply the radiological systems and the corresponding additional hardware and also will render services of training in the American Air Force, navy, marines, ground forces and federal civil agencies. The cost of the contract fixed also makes $827.6 million.
At the same time, according to the statement of the U.S. Department of Defense, the supply rate and type of the equipment are not approved yet, and the agreement will work at first till February 2, 2022, then prolongation for five years is possible.
Within the announced competition the logistic agency Ministry of Defence of the USA received 27 applications for accomplishment of the public contract. In 2016 department announced purchase of the radiological equipment and accessories at Carestream Health company for $571 million, and two years signed the similar contract worth $1.8 billion with Siemens earlier.
The Toshiba Medical Systems company purchased by Canon for $6 billion will be renamed into Canon Medical Systems at the beginning of 2018.
Toshiba became in due time the first company whose MRT-equipment began to conform to requirements of network security imposed on the Ministry of Defence of the USA. It happened in 2015, then Toshiba announced obtaining permission to use of its MRT-offices of the U.S. Air Force.
