MeKaMineft completed creation of IT infrastructure

On April 17, 2017 the DEPO Computers company announced the project of upgrade of a system of telephone communications and IT infrastructures by request of JV MeKaMineft Ltd.

Project Tasks

The guide of the customer set the task of expense optimization on telephone communication. The company used normal analog (wire) and mobile communication. Offices of the company, partners and customers work in the different cities and regions of Russia, and MeKaMineft paid services of intercity and cellular communication. For expense reduction in the company made the decision to use the IP telephony and an automated system of readdressing of calls when using cellular communication.

These technologies give the chance of use of a video flow at communication between subscribers. The possibility of the organization of video conferences simplifies and accelerates the solution of business challenges, allows to reduce the number of business trips to the staff of the company.

For implementation and upgrade of IT infrastructure the decision to attract a third party was made. Specialists MeKaMineft held an internal competition at the choice of the contractor and on his result addressed to DEPO Computers company.

Project Progress

The project team of the contractor prepared the detailed technical commercial offer and held a number of consultations for administrators and the customer's Chief information officer.

Within work on the project specialists of DEPO Computers developed architecture of the hardware-software solution on the platform of the equipment of DEPO, the commercial software of Microsoft Skype for Business (Lync), Symantec Backup Exec and IP telephony technology.

For ensuring failsafe system operation of telecommunications infrastructure was unrolled in virtual environment of Hyper-V, designed a failover cluster of virtualization.

In the project gateways VoIP-GSM for integration of cellular communication into the general communication infrastructure of the customer are used.

For ensuring communications of staff of head office and MeKaMineft branches the hardware platform on the basis of the equipment DEPO Computers is created. As a part of the platform:

• two high-end servers of virtualization of DEPO Storm 3400V2 united in a failover cluster,
• the DEPO Storm 3400P1 server for backup system deployment,
• two selected storage systems,
• two switches and gateway VoIP-GSM.

One DWH is used for a virtualization cluster, the second – for data backup. The backup system is constructed on software of Symantec Backup Exec.

All equipment is mounted in a separate server cabinet of DEPO Rack 650P3 42U high together with all necessary engineering infrastructure.

Jobs of company management MeKaMineft are equipped with IP phones.

At the first stage a project team of the contractor together with IT department of the customer prepared a configuration of the server and communication hardware, developed the detailed scheme of the solution. After testing of the equipment at the DEPO Computers plant all equipment is sent to the customer and mounted by specialists of DEPO in the server room at head office "MeKaMineft" in Nizhnevartovsk.

Deployment of a cluster of virtualization, the organization of infrastructure of virtual machines, software configuration, setup of network and the gateway VoIP-GSM are carried out by engineers of DEPO Computers.

After completion of installation and setup of the equipment and software, in the project the pilot group of 10 employees MeKaMineft working in different departments in Nizhnevartovsk and in Megion is created. For pilot group migration on an installed system of telephony is organized, user training on work in a new system is provided and the procedure of migration is debugged. During working off of a pilot zone training of system administrators of the customer in work with a system is provided.

Upon completion of the pilot, MeKaMineft is carried out by forces of administrators migration of users on the implemented system of communication.

In conclusion of project works specialists of DEPO Computers developed and reported to the customer a set of operational documentation:

• functional diagram of the solution
• switching circuit and installation of equipment
• user guide
• guide of the system administrator.

All project from problem definition before end proceeded 2.5 years. An active part of the project is executed within less than 5 months.

Project Results

The customer received the system of telephony.

Use of a failsafe farm of virtualization provided scaling of the implemented solution.

For expense reduction on telephone negotiations between our branches and also with ours partners, we needed to carry out upgrade of infrastructure and to provide transition from analog telephone communication to digital. Besides, we wanted to upgrade a server framework of our company and to increase reliability of data storage at the expense of backup system implementation. Implementation of a failsafe farm of virtualization based on the modern equipment of DEPO allowed not only to provide transition to the IP telephony, but also to provide an infrastructure scaling option further. Specialists of DEPO Computers showed in practice profound knowledge in data domain and performed all project works with advancing of the planned terms.
