SAM assessment on STZ is complete

At the Saransk television plant the SAM Baseline project according to the complex analysis of use of the software of Microsoft is implemented. As a result the customer obtained the complete information about software status and also the created purchase plan of the software of Microsoft for achievement of the maximum degree of license compliance taking into account specifics of IT infrastructure.

JSC Saransk Television Plant is industrial complex of federal level on creation of hardware containers and antenna sections of civil appointment.

The start of the SAM project at the plant was caused by the aspiration of the management to analyze a current status of IT infrastructure for its further optimization and also to reduce costs for its support. Besides, the purchase plan of the software of vendor for achievement of 100% of license compliance was required for the plant.

As the IT partner the Softline company which specialists have all necessary experience of projects implementation of Software Asset Management was selected. Being the certified SAM-Microsoft partner and also the owner of the status "Partner of Year" in this direction, Softline implements a full stroke of the works directed to improvement of quality of use of the software of vendor, increase in level of its license compliance.

During the project experts of Softline used the automated means of accounting and the analysis of software: the solution iTMan developed by Softline and also the product Assessment and Planning Tool (MAP) recommended by Microsoft company. License purity of desktop OS, office applications, development tools, the server systems, the Microsoft SQL databases was analyzed. The analysis of program assets allowed to set precisely the volume of the used software and also to prepare recommendations about process optimization of management of lifecycle of solutions of Microsoft.

Also within the carried-out works an assessment was given to a status of contracts for software of vendor, the actual number of relevant licenses is revealed, server, network equipment, the basic and applied systems and applications are inspected.

The carried-out interviewing by techniques of assessment of Asset Management Optimization Model became the basis for preparation of the report on assessment of level of a maturity of processes of SAM. Its materials contain the description of the main problem zones of IT infrastructure and recommendations about transition to the rationalized level of a maturity of SAM are made.
