Smartseeds is an online trading and logistics platform in agriculture.
The platform provides ready-made functionality for all market participants, including carriers, cargo owners, terminals, ports, municipalities and fiscal authorities for the full cycle of transportation.
The service works on the principle of "Uber for the grain market," with its help you can order transportation, book unloading time at grain terminals, track the movement of goods. Smartseeds organizes the transportation cycle of agricultural goods and is responsible for the Carriage Paid to (CPT) goods transported - from the moment of loading to the destination. The system unites all participants in the grain market - agro-industrial holdings, exporters and processors of agricultural products with the base of carriers.
2025: Results of the experiment of the Government of the Russian Federation together with Astral Group of Companies
The Smartseeds digital logistics platform, in partnership with Astral Group of Companies (IS EPD operator), took part in an experiment by the Government of the Russian Federation with the support of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Federal Tax Service to introduce electronic waybills for the transportation of grain and its processed products. Astral Group of Companies announced this on December 26, 2025.
The experiment took place for six months. Its participants became automobile cargo transportation grain market representatives: producers, traders, freight carriers and digital logistics services.
The essence of the experiment was to translate into a digital format of transportation documents that are drawn up during the transportation of grain by road. Members of the working group, among whom were specialists from Smartseeds and GC Astral, jointly developed the main scenarios for road transport of grain, formed chains and tested the system in real-world conditions.
During the experiment, Smartseeds and Astral Group of Companies organized the transportation of grain from using electronic bill of lading (ETrH). Electronic a bill of lading is a complete analogue of a paper bill of lading, which is executed and stored completely in electronic form.
In addition, together with a technological partner - Astral Group of Companies, Smartseeds developed convenient tools for the formation and processing of electronic delivery notes directly in the mobile version of the service available on and Android. iOS During the experiment, more than 670 ETrN were registered and transferred through the Smartseeds platform and Astral Group of Companies, within the framework of which more than 20 thousand tons of grain.
| Participation in the experiment has become an important experience for us in terms of tracking processes and testing the system with all market participants. Together with our technology partner, we have developed a solution that makes the transition more convenient both for large agricultural enterprises and for small farmers and freight carriers. Our team has developed a cross-platform solution that is compatible with the 1C system and available on both desktop and mobile platforms. It allows all transport participants to comfortably draw up an electronic bill of lading, easily read and analyze data in the usual form, close to the traditional paper format, said Anton Kondratov, director of Smartseeds.

As a result of the experiment, it was decided to extend the interaction of the participants working group on the methodology of business processes in grain transportation.

- With information in the system, cargo owners and carriers can collect detailed shipping analytics for any period of time.
- All trucks and drivers are subject to mandatory inspection, and trackers are installed on all vehicles by SmartSeeds.
- The mobile application tracks the carrier's location in real time, monitors the cargo and can pay for services.
- The system provides a fixed-term order, as well as an order for the future, a 24-hour support service and wide coverage of the service.

Smartseeds, which announced in June 2017 the creation of a system for automating the transportation of agricultural goods, began to develop a fully functional digital industry platform for the agricultural market of the Russian Federation.
The first implemented functions at the new stage are "Electronic Queue" and "Best Place of Delivery."
The "electronic queue" allows grain carrier drivers to receive time slots for unloading in grain terminals. Previously, this process was not automated. Large traffic jams at the entrance to the terminals are difficult not only for drivers who are forced to wait for unloading from several hours to several days, but also for cities where grain ports are located. The new Smartseeds system module can fix this problem. It takes into account the capacity of a particular terminal, its power and other factors affecting the unloading time. At the same time, in the case of force majeure, changes can be promptly made to the "temporary grid," for example, if the carrier was unable to arrive at the unloading site on time. To connect to the system, carriers need to fulfill two conditions: register on the Smartseeds platform and install a special GPS tracker in their car, which the company provides for free.
The "best place of supply" is assistance to agricultural producers and a tool to stimulate sales. Smartseeds shows the farmer where he can sell his product at the best possible price, taking into account all overheads. The system takes into account many factors - the location of the manufacturer and the buyer, the amount of products that the farmer wants to sell, and the amount of products that the buyer needs.
"Electronic Queue" and "Best Place of Delivery" are the first developed functions of the new platform. The strategic goal of the company is to create an online platform for trade and logistics in the field of agriculture, which will unite all market participants. Ultimately, Smartseeds will become a trading platform for the sale of products with quality control and guaranteed delivery of goods.
| "We will continue to develop the service. After the introduction of the new modules "Assessment of the quality of agricultural products" and "Forwarding service," we begin to develop functionality for trading operations. Geography will also expand. Now we work in the Rostov region. By the end of 2018, we plan to enter the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories. I think external circumstances will contribute to the growth of the company: last summer, the Russian Government approved a program for the development of the digital economy. According to this document, the pace of technological development should increase in the country, and as a result - the volume of exports of domestic products. In particular, exports in the agro-industrial complex should amount to $45 billion per year. This exceeds today's figure by more than 2 times, "says [Kirill Podolsky]], CEO of Smartseeds. |
2017: Smartseeds platform launch
In June 2017, Uber for Agriculture appeared in Russia. It is reported by Kommersant. The founder of the Valars Group agricultural holding and AnywayanydayPodolsky service Kirill, as well as the co-owner of the Guta group Artem Kuznetsov, launched an IT platform for automating the transportation of agricultural goods Smartseeds. This service works according to the Uber for X model, connecting customers, owners of vehicles and drivers. The platform includes a web version and applications for iOS and Android.
The volume of investments in the project by the mister Kuznetsov will amount to several million dollars, the founder of Smartseeds Kirill Podolsky told Kommersant. Artem Kuznetsov is the only owner of Smartseeds, he invests with partners, their names are not disclosed, says Mr. Podolsky. According to Mister Kuznetsov, who are given in the Smartseeds message, he decided to participate in the project because of his long acquaintance with Kirill Podolsky and his experience in the agro-industrial complex and IT.
Smartseeds is focused on working with large exporters, says Mr. Podolsky. According to him, the company has already agreed on cooperation with Zernotreid and the Southern Center, an agreement is being prepared with the International Grain Company (MZK; Russian subsidiary Glencore), it is planned to meet with the largest Russian exporter of grain TD Rif. It was not possible to contact Zernotreid, South Center and Reef, the MZK declined to comment. According to the Grain Quality Assessment Center, since the beginning of the season on May 29, 2017, Russia has exported 33.9 million tons of grain. Rif accounted for 11% of exports, MZK - 8%, Zernotreid and South Center - 4% of all supplies.
The launch of the project is associated with the recent signing of a charter in the field of agricultural turnover, the participants of which agreed to avoid intermediaries in procurement, explains Kirill Podolsky. According to him, road transport delivers more than 70% of Russian grain for export. These carriers often work in a gray zone, the situation is similar to the taxi market before Uber, Gett, etc., says a Kommersant source in a large exporter. According to him, such services can provide traders with logistics transparency, which will avoid problems with VAT refunds and may lead to a decrease in transportation rates.
