New electric pumps at Northwest CHPP Inter RAO — Power Generation

The First Engineer company completed in the spring of 2017 the works on replacement of three nutritious electric pumps of branch on the first 450 MW power unit. Now Northwest CHPP JSC Inter RAO — Power Generation will be able to reduce by 6-7% electricity consumption for own needs and also will increase reliability of operation of the equipment.

The Nutritious Electric Pumps (NEP) are the capital equipment of any thermal station as its continuous and trouble-free operation depends on a power supply of a boiler.

It is very important that any works connected with replacement of pumps were performed consistently according to the diagram. And here, specialists of "The first engineer" had to carry out strictly in turn dismantling and installation works of nutritious electric pumps of high pressure on the working power unit No. 1 at which two of three PEN had to reside in work.

The amount of works of "The first engineer" included accomplishment construction, installation and commissioning and also carrying out various tests - from complex approbation "in single", before testing "under loading" and input of an object in commercial operation.

Result - reduction of electric own needs during the operation of power unit No. 1 in the different modes, increase in reliability of operation of the equipment and improvement of technical economic indicators and operation of the power unit due to regulation of giving of the pump frequency change of rotation of the pump by means of a hydraulic clutch.

Besides, new PEN will allow Northwest combined heat and power plant to provide unloading on pressure differential of the regulating nutritious valve and to considerably reduce the sound pressure (noise) in the work area of the nutritious deaerating unit.
