ABBYY TextGrabber is recognition application and the translation of the text. There are versions for OS Android and iOS.

On June 22, 2017 the ABBYY company announced release of the version of software of TextGrabber for iOS.

The ABBYY Real-Time Recognition technology (SDK ABBYY RTR) is built in this version of TextGrabber. Software is able to take information from documents, different surfaces. In the processed application interface it is possible to work with the recognized text:

call,
write,
translate,
look at details on the Internet or on cards,
create events in the calendar,
edit,
sound
share the acquired information by any convenient method.

By means of machine learning of ABBYY TextGrabber recognizes the text of any color irrespective of a background. To digitize data, it is not necessary to photograph them: at guidance of the camera of the smartphone on the text the application takes information and will recognize it without connection to the Internet. Software can digitize texts in 61 languages.

The application works as the reader of QR codes. All digitized data remain in the history where they can be deleted, edited or integrated.

In ABBYY TextGrabber the functionality of recognition and translation of the text works. Support for users with weak sight is included - it is necessary to point the mobile phone camera at the text printed on any medium or located on the monitor and the computer, and the application will sound it with VoiceOver help.

The intuitive interface ABBYY TextGrabber and possibility of recognition in real time using the innovative technology of ABBYY RTR of SDK give to users experience with information. The mobile phone allows to begin quickly work with the text printed on any surface.

2018: Updating under iOS 12

On September 17, 2018 ABBYY announced TextGrabber obnovileniye for iOS 12. Now it support Siri Shortcuts – a possibility of creation of fast commands in the Siri virtual assistant.

Siri can instantly recognize the text in the last made picture or the screenshot of TextGrabber saved in gallery. This command is useful to those who work hard with paper documents or want to copy quickly information from presentation slides – for example, during the conference. The digitized text can be saved, edited, sent and translated into 104 languages in online or offline mode.

Siri Shortcuts – one of the most anticipated new products in iOS12: she will help to cope quicker with affairs and to carry out routine tasks, now Siri can work in any application and even to prompt actions at the necessary moments. We are glad that users of ABBYY will be able to estimate some of the first possibilities of the operating system: one click or a voice command to open the document and to recognize the text, to translate it or to send someone by mail.

TextGrabber for iOS can be downloaded free of charge in App Store. After installation the user can study all opportunities of the application on three notes. Then it is possible to digitize and save texts without restriction. Again to get access to complete functionality, the user can purchase a subscription. TextGrabber is compatible to iOS 10.0 above. Text recognition happens on the device. To translate or send the text, Internet access is required. For Siri Shortcuts the version of IOS 12.0 is necessary and also Internet connection is higher.

2017: Updating under iOS 11

On September 25, 2017 the ABBYY company announced release of updating under iOS 11 for mobile applications of ABBYY FineScanner, Abbyy TextGrabber and Abbyy Business Card Reader. In them tools for work with PDF appeared, the technology of augmented reality (AR) and a possibility of drag and drop of files (Drag-and-Drop) and also is improved cutting of documents.

Abbyy TextGrabber in real time will recognize the text in 63 languages and allows to work with the digitized result: call, write, translate, look on the Internet or on cards, create an event, edit, sound and share the acquired information by any convenient method.

The updated TextGrabber supports possibilities of Drag-and-Drop on iPad for fast information exchange between applications. When results of text recognition insufficiently good, TextGrabber automatically tries to define the main language and suggests to change to suitable.
