2019: Updating for Android

On March 21, 2019 the ABBYY company reported that it updated the ABBYY Business Card Reader application (ABBYY BCR) for Android. For March, 2019 users of the application of all for couple of seconds can send a contact information of clients to the CRM system of Salesforce. In it it is possible to save a name, a surname, e-mail, the phone number, the company name, the street, the city and other information from business cards.

According to the company to add data from the business card to Salesforce, it is enough to select any of two menu items for preserving of contacts – "The application and Salesforce" or "The application, the telephone directory and Salesforce". Further ABBYY BCR will suggest to check data which need to be exported to Salesforce and also to add the fields obligatory for Salesforce Lead for example, the name of the industry, a lead source, a form of the address to the client. If information is right, then it is possible to click Export. This functionality is available on a premium subscription.

2018: ABBYY Business Card Reader для iOS

On May 29, 2018 the ABBYY company released the version of the application of ABBYY Business Card Reader (ABBYY BCR) for iOS which will help to find the necessary contacts in social networks quickly.

To add data from social networks to the business card of the new acquaintance, it is rather simple to click "Look for in Facebook" during editing the scan of the business card, enter into social network under the account and confirm the found profile. The search algorithm considers data on the business card and displays above the most relevant profiles – taking into account communications, mutual friends, work locations, interests and other parameters that increases search accuracy on social networks and saves time. The necessary contact on social network can be added to ABBYY BCR. If in the business card there was no photo of contact, it will automatically be loaded from Facebook.

Besides, in the updated ABBYY BCR for iOS the editor of contacts is improved. Now it became more convenient to check the recognizable fields: they are automatically highlighted on the image of the business card, and text boxes, even long, displayed completely.

Updating under iOS 11

On September 25, 2017 the ABBYY company announced release of updating under iOS 11 for mobile applications of ABBYY FineScanner, Abbyy TextGrabber and Abbyy Business Card Reader. In them tools for work with PDF appeared, the technology of augmented reality (AR) and a possibility of drag and drop of files (Drag-and-Drop) and also is improved cutting of documents.

The scanner of business cards of ABBYY Business Cards Reader is equipped with AR technology based on ARKit Apple now. If the user has near at hand no paper business card, the application will offer a demo mode. At guidance of the camera on a horizontal surface there will be a virtual business card, BCR will recognize information from it and will save contact in a card holder.

Besides, the updated Abbyy Business Card Reader, according to developers, defines limits of the business card 65% better. In the application autocompletion of passwords also appeared. If the user entered the login and the password in Safari on the website abbyybcr.com from the Mac or the IOS-DEVICE already once, then the password will remain on all devices of Apple.

2014: Abbyy Business Card Reader для Windows Phone

On October 30, 2014 the ABBYY company announced release of the version of the application of ABBYY Business Card Reader for the Windows platform of Phone.

By means of technology for optical text recognition on mobile devices - ABBYY Mobile OCR Engine, Business Card Reader for Windows Phone provides "reading" of data from paper business cards in 21 languages.

The digitized cards can remain in the functional address directory People Hub ("Contacts") or in an application card holder – internal storage with a search capability and sortings of business cards. The digitized contacts are interactive: with their help it is possible to do calls, to write e-mails, to send the SMS, to add the edited notes and to browse the addresses of the companies on online maps.

We are sure that our users will estimate convenience of transfer of contact information from business cards at the address directory of phone. ABBYY Business Card Reader 6.2

The company ABBYY announced on July 1, 2013 a release of the new version of ABBYY Business Card Reader 6.2 for Apple iOS, the multilingual application for fast transfer of contact information from business cards in the address directory of the mobile device, internal storage Card holder and Salesforce CRM.

Along with a similar product for Android, ABBYY Business Card Reader for iOS allows to exchange electronic copies of business cards at distance. Using Wi-fi network, the application instantly transfers a contact information from the device to the device even if on one of them the operating system iOS, and on other Android is set.

"We aim to create the convenient working tool for those who constantly expand a circle of business communication and select modern technologies. Now users of our ABBYY Business Card Reader applications on devices Android iOS can also exchange freely electronic versions of business cards with each other. The application supports devices with operating system 6.0 above and automatic focusing of the camera, namely iPhone iPad 4, 4S, 5, 3, iPad 4 and iPad mini.

Abbyy Business Card Reader 3.0

The ABBYY company announced at the beginning of 2013 a release of the version of ABBYY Business Card Reader 3.0 for Android — the application for fast recognition of information from business cards in 20 languages and simple management of a contact information. Now users of Android devices can exchange easily with each other business cards directly in the application thanks to AllJoyn, the software with the open code developed by Qualcomm Innovation Center, Qualcomm Incorporated subsidiary company.

"Now at conferences, exhibitions or meetings it is much simpler to exchange contacts with partners or clients on whose mobile devices the ABBYY Business Card Reader 3.0 application is installed. Depending on a situation it is possible 'to collect' cards far off, on Wi-fi network, or to exchange them at a personal meeting" — Ekaterina Solntseva, the director of the department of mobile platforms of ABBYY noted.

Function of exchange of business cards is available right after installation of the application. To send a card on Wi-Fi, it is enough to select the corresponding option from the menu. For convenience in the application the My Business Cards group to which the user can add own business cards, for example, personal or working, in Russian or foreign languages is already created. The AllJoyn technology allows to transfer business cards on Wi-fi network to other devices regardless of their model and the operating system installed on them, emphasized in Abbyy.

Thanks to the new version of technology of optical text recognition for the mobile devices ABBYY Mobile OCR Engine, the application with higher accuracy will recognize the e-mail addresses, phone numbers and also the addresses of websites and other information.

Abbyy Business Card Reader 3.0 for Android can be purchased through Google Play. The application is compatible to Android devices with the Android OS 2.2 operating system above and with a camera auto focus. The program supports the English and Russian interface languages.

Users of Android devices can load free of charge the fact-finding version which will allow to save in the address directory of the smartphone or in a card holder a name and the first phone number found on the business card. The Lite-version of ABBYY Business Card Reader contains all basic functions of the program: users can do calls, find the additional information about new contact in Facebook, create the backup copy of data and exchange contacts on Wi-Fi. The cost of the complete application version is 299 rub, or $9.99.

According to Abbyy, the possibility of exchange of business cards will become soon available also to users of the IOS-VERSION of ABBYY Business Card Reader.

2011: ABBYY Business Card Reader 4.6

The ABBYY company announced in November, 2011 that it releases ABBYY Business Card Reader 4.6 for iPhone – the new application version for recognition of information from business cards and its transferring to the address directory of users of the Apple iPhone using the built-in camera.

Now data from the business cards which are stored in special archive – a card holder, it is possible to send by e-mail or the SMS. And the application suggests to send information as in the text V-Card format (files with the.vcf expansion), and in the form of the JPEG image.

The new version of ABBYY BCR allows to transfer all saved contacts to other iPhone or the computer. Information movement in the PC will allow to use data retrieveds in different programs organizers or e-mail clients, for example century Microsoft Outlook. For safety contacts can be archived then to recover both in iPhone, and on the PC, using synchronization through iTunes.

Besides, the program allows to organize all saved images of the recognized business cards in groups for more convenient search and ordering of information.

By default, in application controls there are two languages of recognition now: the English and language selected by the user for the iPhone interface. This small innovation simplifies and accelerates process of preparation of the annex to work. Starting with this version, ABBYY Business Card Reader for iPhone supports function of shooting with permanent lighting that allows to receive better results of recognition.

The list of the devices supported by the application includes Apple iPhone 3GS, iPhones 4 and iPhone 4S (with the OS 4 operating system above) and automatic focusing of the camera.
