Education

Shell Morten Jönsson was born in 1968 Norway. Graduated from the University of Oslo, the Norwegian school of management and also Business school of the Northern university. Has degree of MBA of the Norwegian school of economy and business administration.

Career

Before arrival to telecom industry in 2000 Schell worked in Norsk Hydro company in France and Ukraine and also in Scandsea International company in Norway and Russia.[1]

In 2000-2016 held different positions in the Norwegian holding Telenor, in one of the largest shareholders of VimpelCom Ltd. Including in 2006-2009 headed the Russian division of Telenor. In 2009-2012 directed the operations Telenor in Serbia, in 2012-2016 — in the whole Europe, at the same time holding a position of the executive vice president of Telenor.[2]

In 2011-2015 entered into the Supervisory board of VimpelCom Ltd.

In 2007-2013 was the board member of PJSC VimpelCom.

In August, 2016 joined VimpelCom as the head of department of the largest markets which Russia and Italy treat. He has the international leading experience in several industries at once and earlier was responsible for business development in such countries as Russia, Scandinavia and also Central and Eastern Europe.

Since September 5, 2016 — the CEO of PJSC VimpelCom. In parallel he directed The Largest Markets division where Russian VimpelCom and the Italian WIND Tre entered.

Since November, 2017 Jönsson works in Veon as the curator of the Russian and Italian directions.



With arrival of the Acting CEO of Veon Ltd. Ursula Burns in March, 2018 undertook duties of the operating officer with a prefix of the deputy. In July, 2018 Veon announced official appointment of Shell Morten Jönsson to a post of the operating officer of group.

On November 1, 2019 Shell Morten Jönsson left a post of the operating officer of the Veon group and passed to the adviser's position. Its place was taken at once by two - Serkhi Errero and Kaan Terzioglu.[3]
