Philips Lighting upgraded lighting systems at three enterprises of Metalloinvest

Customers: Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Integrated Works (MMPIW)

Product: Complex projects of creation of the engineering systems

Project date: 2017/02  - 2017/07

The Philips Lighting company announced on September 4, 2017 upgrade of lighting systems at three enterprises of Metalloinvest company: OEMK, Lebedinsk and Mikhaylovsk mining and processing works. The project became the first stage of the program of large-scale reconstruction of lighting at three enterprises of Metalloinvest.

Project Progress

Works on replacement of the obsolete light equipment at plants were conducted in parallel. Illumination on Mikhaylovsk of GOKE, one of the largest in Russia and the CIS of the enterprises for production and enrichment of iron ore, underwent almost complete reconstruction: ceiling lighting was replaced in 13 workshops from 14, including a crushing and enrichment complex and factory of pelletizing. Installation of modern lamps allowed to achieve reduction of energy consumption of a lighting system for 70%.

Lebedinsky GOK

On Lebedinsky GOKE, GBZh producer (hot-briquetted iron) in Russia and the CIS, the equipment was installed in producing departments of enrichment factory. On OEMK, the metallurgical enterprise of a full stroke allowing to receive the metal free from harmful impurity and residual elements, modern light solutions were set in a zone of rolling production.

OEMK

In total upgrade of lighting was carried out in 17 workshops. In the majority of work areas instead of the 6.0 MW outdated mercury gas discharge lamps with consumption of 43.5 million kWh a year modern metalhalogen CrestBay lamps and also Megalux lamps which thanks to heat resisting execution are capable to function in hot zones with a temperature up to 90 degrees were installed.

The LED solutions GreenPerform Highbay which uninterruptedly function at high temperatures were applied to the organization of reserve lighting which will work in workshop in case of need and execute standards for illumination and a pulsation.

The total installed capacity of the equipment was 1.5 MW at annual consumption of 13 million kWh. For fixing of project deliverables at the enterprises the system of accounting of the electric power spent for needs of lighting was installed.

Results of the first stage

Within the project in total lighting systems of 17 production workshops "on a turn-key basis" were updated. Decrease in electricity consumption at plants for 70% and reduction of cumulative power of light devices by 4.5 MW became result of upgrade. By estimates of Metalloinvest, transition to the modern light equipment will pay off within 2 years and will lead to economy 30.5 million kilowatt-hours a year that is comparable with energy consumption of the town.
