BASF and SAP announced in September, 2017 a project startup on the production site of BASF in Ludwigshafen which purpose – assessment of digital cooperation between business partners in design and maintenance.

SAP Asset Intelligence Network – the corporate network on the basis of cloud storage system – will provide to BASF digital connection of data to several original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and to service providers together with their data. A project objective – to create completely integrated storage of assets with the centralized control system and by that to provide integrity of information and its availability.

Using formation of the only source of reliable information on assets, BASF aims to increase process performance of design and maintenance of assets on all life.

"BASF constantly works on optimization of the industrial complexes, plants and production processes", – Andreas Wemsdorfer, the senior vice president of division of Technical services of the production site in Ludwigshafen, BASF told. "SAP Asset Intelligence Network is approach which is capable to improve even more our processes in design and maintenance using creation of completely integrated digital information chain between original equipment manufacturers (OEM), service providers and BASF on all life of an asset. More integrated digital approach with our business partners would allow us easily and to quickly get access to up-to-date information in due time and in the right place. Such approach promotes faster and high-quality decision making and, as a result, more high efficiency of assets".
"We will allow our clients to interact with start of SAP Asset Intelligence Network in a digital ecosystem for control of intelligent devices in Internet of Things (IoT) and for achievement of the purposes in production optimization", – noted the doctor of science Tanya Ryukert, the president in the direction of Internet of Things and digital channels of deliveries to SAP. – "Working with such industrial leaders as BASF, we aim to create the information network working in real time about industrial assets that our clients and their business partners could implement all advantages of IoT using the digital innovation SAP Leonardo system".

It is expected that the project by assessment will last several months. It is a part of "BASF 4.0", the global project stimulating digital transformation of BASF.
