Business in Russia
2017: Start of local production
In September 2017, Moxa announced the launch of its own production line in Russia, in the city of St. Petersburg. At the first stage, the company placed an assembly workshop here. The total investment in this project, according to Moxa, amounted to more than $3 million.
The new production is a joint venture of Moha and its two main partners in Russia - Nienschanz Automatics and IPC2U.
At the initial stage, the new enterprise will produce four types of products that are in greatest demand in the Russian market: the EDS-205 switch, Uport 1150 series interface converters, NPort 5130 and NPort 5150. The first batch is planned for shipment to consumers at the end of October.
In the second and third stages in subsequent years, the production of a wider range of products should be launched. It will be produced with the label "Made in Russia" and is intended for sale exclusively on the local market.
The company expects that its own production in Russia will allow it to control costs and ensure stable supply of products, including ensuring the independence of supplies of critical infrastructure components from possible sanctions. In addition, local production will positively affect product prices for Russian customers.
Russia for Moxa is a strategically important region in terms of sales and business management model, which has huge growth potential. We invest in Russia not only to satisfy current market demand, but also to maintain future growth in various sectors of the economy, the company said. |
By the time production was opened, Mokha had implemented a number of large projects in Russia in the oil and gas industries, as well as in the energy sector, and plans to continue cooperation with these customers, Moxa says. Among the largest local customers using Mokha products are Transneft and Norilsk Nickel.
