Content

The Borlas group in 2017 constructed for the St. Petersburg institute of nuclear physics of B.P. Konstantinov (PIYaF) network infrastructure for the computer system (CS) of the research Peak reactor for what it received an award "The project of year in science" from Extreme Networks. On September 20, 2017 said it in Borlas company.

The project is implemented within the federal target program "Research and Development in the Priority Directions of Development of a Scientific and Technology Complex of Russia for 2014-2020".

Auction

On the project of Borlas acquired the right to execution of works according to the results of an electronic auction for delivery, installation and a commissioning of the computing equipment for Research Center Kurchatov Institute and Federal State Budgetary Institution PIYaF which took place on December 13, 2016. It was Borlas the only bidder. According to information placed on the portal of state procurements, the cost of the contract was 441.32 million rubles.

Stages of works

Within the project specialists of Borlas provided supply of equipment, executed installation and a commissioning of all components of the PIYaF computer system.

According to auction documentation of the contract:

  • on adaptation of the project and work documentation term was allotted from the moment of signing of the contract till March 5, 2017;
  • delivery of the computing equipment was required to be executed in time from March 6 to May 31, 2017,
  • complete mounting, commissioning and tests of the equipment it was necessary during the period from April 1 to July 30, 2017.

Structure of VK

The complex integrates several computing modules with an overall peak capacity of 315 Tflops and storage device subsystems with a capacity of 3.5 PB of formatted capacity (5.4 PB crude capacities). Network infrastructure is based on the Extreme Networks switches which provide the high performance and capacity for processing of large volumes of data.

Appointment of VK

The computer system is located in the territory of PIYaF in Gatchina of the Leningrad Region in the neighbourhood with the research Peak nuclear reactor. It will become the PIYaF computing base for the innovative developments in the field of the return engineering, visualization, the industry of nanosystems and also accomplishment of calculation tasks of a quantum mechanics and neutron interactions.

The computer system should provide:

  • highly reliable data storage;
  • the distributed and secure access to data;
  • diagnosing of operability of systems;
  • ensuring failsafe functioning (for the internal and external reasons) own systems and elements.
