Inline Technologies ensured smooth operation of IT services of the Cherkizovo group

The Inline Technologies company announced on November 8, 2017 project completion on creation of a geographically distributed storage system of the Cherkizovo group for ensuring smooth operation of the main IT services. This project became the next stage of long cooperation of Inline Technologies with the Cherkizovo group on development of its infrastructure of storage and data processing.

Prerequisites

The enterprises and branches of the Cherkizovo group in regions of the Russian Federation performed information exchange through the uniform data processing center located in Moscow. In case of its failure or emergence of problems with communication channels there was a risk of long unavailability to users of crucial information services, such as management of finance, logistics, normative reference information, ERP and others. It, in turn, increased also the general financial risks of the customer. Respectively, at some point the problem of ensuring continuity of IT services became for the Cherkizovo group priority among other actions for development of information infrastructure.

Project Progress

Inline Technologies suggested to increase fault tolerance of data center due to creation of the additional platform of DPC and the organization of a geographically distributed cluster of storage and data processing based on the solution Netapp MetroCluster. Such configuration including allows to perform switching of virtual servers between two platforms of DPC connected by high-speed links of communication: in the automatic mode, in case of emergence on one of them emergencies or at the command of the administrator — at routine maintenance.

Due to great importance of this project for functioning of business processes of the Cherkizovo group all works on creation of a cluster of DPC, including installation, setup, testing of the equipment and setup actions, Inline Technologies executed within two months. At the same time for the period of works on reconfiguration of the existing storage system which required carrying out migration of the data stored on it the Inline Technologies company provided to the customer in use of DWH of Netapp from the substitution fund.

Project Results

On a response of the customer, project implementation allowed to increase the level of availability of information services and to provide their continuity for all geographically distributed objects and industrial complexes of the Cherkizovo group. As the result, using a cluster in the company is implemented disaster-proof storage more than 70 Tbyte of data and the possibility of fast recovery of work of all crucial information services of the enterprise in case of failure of the equipment or unavailability of one of DPC platforms because of accidents or planned shutdowns is provided.
