2017: Announcement

In November, 2017 the Lamborghini company provided the electric supercar with a selfrepair body. The conceptual model under the name Terzo Millennio (in translation from Italian — "The third millennium") is created with the assistance of engineers of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Electronics of the car will recognize cracks and other small damages of carbon fiber panels on the body then defects are filled with "the healing chemicals" through special tubes.

The electrical power unit at which each of wheels it is built in on an electric motor which eat from a set of the "innovation superkondesator" integrated with structure of a body became one more feature of the provided prototype. Technical characteristics of units do not reveal.

Terzo Millenio is equipped with supercondensers instead of Li-ion batteries, traditional for electric vehicles, and the system of recuperation of kinetic energy that provides a big run on one charging and fast  replenishment action of energy.

The supercar is created in futuristic design on which the division of Lamborghini Centro Stile worked. His employees pursued the aim to reflect radical technology changes in the machine and  to anticipate design of cars of the future.

At the time of the first demonstration Terzo Millenio was in a concept stage. Terms of emergence of the serial version of innovation were not called.

Cooperation of Lamborghini and MIT within which the new supercar was created covers two main directions. First, partners develop the new systems of rechargeable batteries with bigger power consumption at smaller dimensions. Secondly, the advanced light composite materials which will be able to compete on durability to steel alloys are developed.[1]
