Content

The portable device for measurement of quality of grain allows farmers, seed growers and selectors to measure instantly key parameters of the crops and to make necessary decisions for increase in profitability.

The portable device of GrainSense measures protein content, moisture, oil and carbohydrates in grain and other crops, i.e., key indicators which determine the value of a harvest and cost of its processing.

Principle of work

The principle of operation of the GrainSense device is based on the module of optical detection and on the additional mechanical and electronic systems with connection through Bluetooth to the mobile phone. The technical principle of the device is based on absorbing spectroscopy in near infrared region.

To execute measurement, the user at first takes control measurement, using the empty sphere for initial data, and then fills up grain on glass of the holder and takes measurement of the filtered sample. From these two measurements it is possible to define single-step data sampling of absorbing capacity (ACS) of grain, and then multidimensional algorithms of calibration for information output about concentration of proteins, carbohydrates, oil and moisture in the measured range of ACS are used.

The announcement of a field mill for crushing of grain and a possibility of measurement of quality of corn and soy

The GrainSense company, the Finnish agrotechnical startup, announced on October 25, 2019 implementation in of the same name the portable measuring instrument of quality of grain of a possibility of calibration of corn and soy. For this purpose the company developed also portable field mill allowing to crush grain without loss of moisture for a possibility of measurement of its quality in the field.

Knowing that how fields or sections of fields differ among themselves on protein level, farmers will be able to optimize the annual plan of application of fertilizers. Especially it is useful to farmers to whom action of standards of the EU in the field of fertilizers extends, consider in GrainSense.

As noted, field tests of the GrainSense unit began during last harvest season and will continue until devices are not released on the new markets.
