In November, 2017 the Uniteller company announced that in the Subway of St. Petersburg the quantity of tourniquets for journey payment by the credit card for PayPass is going to be doubled by the end of 2017. The systems of contactless payment will appear on the second tourniquets.
Contractor Selection
According to Uniteller, for December 1, 2017 holding the auction according to the results of which the company for accomplishment of necessary works will be selected is planned.
Expected works
According to auction documentation, the project will cover 67 stations of the St. Petersburg subway at which it is in total going to connect 72 items of equipment.
The winner of an auction will have to define where it is necessary to locate the bank equipment — in or outside of a tourniquet, to lay information cables, to mount readers of bank cards and contactless smart cards of a tourniquet, to hold a commissioning and testing.[1]
The aggregate value of works on the contract is estimated almost at 10.4 million rubles which will be selected from the budget of the St. Petersburg subway. It will be required to perform works to the contractor during the period from December 18 to December 29, 2017.
The reader of proximity bank cards (the module of the VivoPay Kiosk antenna, the module of the VivoPay Kiosk controller) is installed in a pad of a casing of a curbstone of a tourniquet and is connected to the industrial computer. The industrial computer is connected to tourniquet control block via RS-232 interface and to the network switch via Ethernet interface for data exchange in real time with processing of a transport card platform of bank, said in purchasing documents. |
Start of payment of journey by the credit card
In January, 2015 the Subway of St. Petersburg the first in Russia started payment of travel by the subway by the credit card with the assistance of processing company Uniteller. On a response of representatives of the subway, unloading of queues and the accelerated passability of clients through cash desk became result of implementation of technology of fast calculation from Uniteller.
According to auction documents, services of trade acquiring in universal tourniquets of the subway are provided by Bank St. Petersburg which provides acquiring of the cashless payments passing on the first tourniquets since 2015.
Premises of development of the project
During the period from 2015 to 2017 users of proximity bank cards in St. Petersburg became more. As result, tourniquets for journey payment by the credit card appeared insufficiently. With respect thereto it was decided to increase by the end of 2017 the number of the equipment with the innovation payment system.
The subway of St. Petersburg — the pioneer of contactless payment of journey in Russia and the third subway in the world which installed readers of proximity bank cards and mobile devices in tourniquets.
