2018: Announcement

On January 22, 2018 the Aireon company provided the technology under the name ADS-B allowing to keep track of location of aircrafts in an every spot on the globe, including airspace over oceans in real time. This technology provides communication of air traffic with a communication satellite network.

Use of ADS-B will allow air traffic controllers to reduce time between departures of aircrafts and to select shorter route and optimal flight altitude that will lead to significant savings of fuel and means of an avia - and the logistic companies.

The main advantage of a system of automatic dependent observation in the mode of broadcasting (ADS-B) is use of observation in real time in addition to GPS and a voice communication which are already used by pilots and managers. The ADS-B transceiver located on the aircraft automatically transfers the relevant data of flight to land receivers twice per second. In other words, airplane computers automatically and constantly perform communication with air traffic controllers, providing observation in real time.

Demonstration of the principle of work of ADS-B technology

Federal management of aircraft of the USA already began to use ADS-B receivers. Together with some other international bodies of civil aviation the American department permitted universal integration with technology airplanes by the beginning of 2020. After final development of Aireon network it will cover all airspace which base stations of ADS-B cannot cover.

According to the message of Fortune, the technology already uses 40 Iridium satellites. During 2018 it is going to finish their number to 75. Iridium and Aireon will bring to investment into deployment of a global network noticeable advantage and will provide solid dividends.

According to edition sources in the industry, use of ADS-B will allow to save 33 million gallons of fuel, and, therefore, millions of dollars annually.[1]
