MegaFon will develop telecom infrastructure in the Saratov region

As it became known in March, 2018, MegaFon and the Government of the Saratov region agreed about cooperation within development of digital economy. The agreement signed by the parties assumes implementation of the innovation projects and development of telecommunication infrastructure within the state program "Digital economy".

Within the agreement administration of the region and the operator will combine the efforts for acceleration of economic development of the region and quality improvement of life of citizens. MegaFon will render assistance in implementation of the innovation information and communication technologies, implementations of the state program on development of information society in the territory of the region and to accomplishment of "The concept of informatization of the Saratov region till 2022".

The parties will study sales opportunity of a pilot project "The digital region" which assumes implementation of modern technologies to different spheres of public life, in particular: city transport, medicine, housing and public utilities, education, state services, tourism and public spaces.

Infrastructure — one of the major directions, basis for development of digital projects. In the Saratov region only from 2015 to 2017 MegaFon invested more than 2.5 billion rubles in development of network. High speeds 4G are available in the territory where more than 76% of the population of the area live, and we continue to expand this scope — the director of the Volga region branch of MegaFon Vladimir Karpushkin told. — We are sure that our technology, intellectual resources and also experience in implementation of integration projects will help with formation of digital, "smart" economy of the Saratov region.

Development of digital economy assumes growth of information volume and, as a result, resource requirement for its storage and processing. MegaFon locates necessary infrastructure and already today proposes solutions which allow state and business clients to work with a big array of own data. For example, for use of server capacities for storage, reservation, data recovery and also for cloud computing in May, 2017 the operator offered service Virtual DPC.

Basis for providing cloud services are DPCs of MegaFon in St. Petersburg and Samara. The Samara DPC has the international certificate of reliability Tier III and many years service clients from different regions of Russia, including the Saratov region.

According to the company, in the Saratov region MegaFon occupies a considerable market share of mobile telecommunications. In 18 years the operator built the network providing with communication 98% of the territory of the region and servicing 1.7 million subscribers.
